Both are pinnacle players, One is high and moronic and the other will be a team leader by year 2 or 3 in the NFL.

I think Peria Jerry in 2008 was just as disruptive as Fairley was in 2010.

Jerry
Tackles - 49
TFL - 18
Sacks - 7
INTs - 0

Fairley
Tackles - 60
TFL - 24
Sacks - 11.5
INTs - 1

Yeah, just as disruptive. You nailed it.

If I could be guaranteed that Fairley would play like he did in 2010 and not the average Fairley we have seen before that and afterwards in the NFL, I would take 2010 Fairley over 2012 Clowney.

That's pretty damn disruptive.

Indiana Jones got chewed up and spit out in this thread. Where is Belle to bail him out?

Would rather have a great defensive end than a great defensive tackle. I think Fairley was great but I don't think I'd take him over Clowney. There are many other players like Fairley to choose from. Clowney is a freak of nature.

True, but I don't believe we've seen the best Clowney yet either..

Nah.

2013 Clowney might be the best football player at any level.

I think Clowney has more upside and room to improve than Fairley as well.

I think Clowney edges out Fairley for me.

I agree. Your run defense takes a noticeable hit when you don't have a great DT

I'd choose Fairley; he may have had a reputation for bad hits, but he got the job done. Fariley excelled in rushing the passer and stopping the run. The South Carolina D-line could use some work on stopping the run.

I shouldn't have said "It's not even close" but I wouldn't think about it very long before taking Clowney.
