Is the SEC such an NFL pump that bowl games really don't mean anything anymore?

I mean they're cool to go to. They're fun. They're a vacation with presents. But if you didn't make it to the SEC Conference game and thus to a BCS bowl, do you really think all these kids that have NFL on the brain are going to be playing lights out like they do during the regular season when they have a chance still?
I'm a firm believer that the loss to Bama last year pretty much turned the lights off on LSU playing full speed other than when they absolutely had to. And by the time they got to the bowl game vs Clempson... who cares? Just don't get hurt.
Then we lose 11 to the draft?
When half your starters are thinking about the draft are they really going to care at all about a game that means nothing?
Bet we see more of this in the future as teams don't make the playoffs and the SEC bowl game dominance fades away other than we win the championship every year.

Really? Is this how you try to explain away your postseason arse rapings?
You sad, sad man.

I haven't really noticed tfat aside from some publicity from former LSU players. Coach Miles needs to get a handle on that, imo. Bench their arse as far as I'm concerned.

Still trying to rationalize that loss to Clemson I see

Well, early on the bowl games were merely a reward for the teams to go play in a different part of the country and experience new places play new OOC teams. Then, they decided to include the bowls in the "polls" and they meant something dir the MNC.
I could see it revert back to that for the teams not in the playoff. Plus one of the biggest reasons for making a bowl is the extra practice the team gets.

Since that would be a nice excuse for the 08 Utah debacle, I'll accept it.

You're barely an SEC team yet. Beating Oklahoma was your superbowl.

Can't help your disability.

Nah, I just choose not to read pure drivel.
Your specialty, I know. To each their own

I don't see it as an SEC issue, but I can understand some teams playing poorly in bowl games.
Some teams consider it to be huge success making it to a certain bowl game and may be going up against a team who considers it a slight failure to be there.
Maybe there are 20-40 or so players that may think like you mentioned in the OP, but I feel like having a very good bowl game can make a bigger difference in getting drafted higher. We have seen multiple players who have been drafted that required some sort of surgery between their final game and the draft.

So it's drivel, because it's my speciality, because you know.
But you didn't read it.

Look man, this includes TAM. You will be at this level soon where Big 12 games won't mean squat to your players. It's gonna be a few years, and I have no doubt that if you ever get Texas in a bowl game all bets are off, but you gotta see what I mean.
We're that far beyond everyone else in recruiting. It's not a bad thing other than for the fans who want that win. For the players, it's just another chance to get hurt.
