Word is leaking out that the victim was the girlfriend of one of the players accused. After a night of drinking, he had sex with her, then allowed 3 of his friends to have sex with her as well, against her will.

Of course, that is why my post said I could be wrong.
But as of now either they are rapists or she is a liar. On the facts stated in the OP I assume she is a liar because the story sounds fishy to me.

has Vanderbilt ever released the names of the players dismissed?

vandy has significantly relaxed their academic requirements since james franklin got there.... it's still obviously higher than the NCAA minimums that most schools use, but there's no doubt their attracting a higher calibre player b/c of this.

I can't find an article that list the names of the players kicked off. All the articles just say 4 players.

I don't think any names have been released at all. At least not from anything I've seen.

Meh, I think it's entirely possible she was raped in that fashion even as bad as it sounds. Just as it's entirely possible she let some players run a train on her and is trying to save face.
I don't see anything that suggests one way or the other like you're saying though.

I am just saying that the story sounds weird. For the reasons stated before. It could be completely true. But if I am asked what I believe right now, I say no rape.
Again not saying anyone is wrong for thinking the other way because we don't know.

No, the names haven't been officially released. A Tennessee message board had some names, but that was't official.
I think they said it was RS freshmen and a juco transfer though. Vandy has probably been advised by their attorneys not to release the info until charges are filed. They want to see how it all plays out, and don't want to be accused of slander just in case the DA doesn't charge them.

Even with the players getting booted and rumors of a video?

Rumors I don't take into consideration. Vanderbilt distancing themselves certainly does say something. But not enough to sway me at this point.

It is all rumors at this point. The only concrete evidence you have is that vandy recruits thoughtful football players.
Posted on 7/10/13 at 4:34 pm to bisonduck
By thoughtful I meant that educated people who go there usually think things through from a to b.

To me, it's the fact that Vandy dismissed them and barred them from campus. They didn't just suspend them while an investigation was taking place. They booted them off the team, and out of school. The only time I can remember Mizzou acting that harshly, and that quickly, the guy went to prison for sexual assault.
If they weren't pretty sure, they'd have just suspended them and let it play out until the investigation was complete.

Very valid point. I am not trying to convince anyone here. Just laying the foundation for my "provacative" thoughts on the matter.

A lot of colleges will dismiss a person accused and not even prosecuted. I was privy to such an event in our dorm. The guy was accused and he had to go before a committee that excused him after hearing both their stories. It happened in her dorm room and with no witnesses and both parties intoxicated. Most colleges will immediately dismiss. I just don't know how it works for schollie football players in the SEC though.

I understand, and you're absolutely entitled to your opinion. I just think there are several things that make it lok very bad. It was in the hands of Vandy police for a few days, then they turned it over to the Metro PD's Sexual Crimes Unit. At that point, the players were suspended. A couple more days go by, and the players are dismissed and barred from campus. (It happened in a dorm.) Metro PD hands it off to the TBI. Early on, they mentioned that at least part of it was caught on video, and that 6 more players were part of the investigation. This makes it sound like it took place in the players dorm, and they're trying to see how many players may have been aware of it. I would guess that the Metro PD doesn't hand off that many cases to the TBI without good reason.
I guess we'll find out eventually.

Duke was so sure that they kicked out the players, got rid of the coach, and disbanded the team. All based on a lie.
Just playing devil's advocate here. We really don't know anything yet.

To be honest, if there really is a video of it, then that would open up the "she's lying" angle even more.
Without a video her getting trained could be nothing more than an urban legend. However with video evidence, her shame is recorded forever and there is no way she can deny it. If she was "raped" however, she goes from dirty crotched whore trash to poor victim.
I'm not saying one way or the other. This is just food for thought.
