The same reason Trooper lied about being offered the OC job or whatever it was with the Cowboys. So he can tell naive 17 year olds that he would rather stay at aTm and coach them than take an NFL job.

I'm not saying he is lying, but there is definitely at least one good reason for it.

Coaches have huge incentive to stretch the truth in these situations.. You want to make yourself look as sought after as possible. Tubs was notorious for that.

I have no doubt in my mind that he was contacted about the possibility, but I don't believe for one second he was actually offered the position.
