Given Okla's Bowl record, why would we ever want them in the SEC?

This is an upgrade for the conference? Yes Okla has National cachet but so does USC, Nebraska, Penn State and ND not to mention Boise.

if bowl records were a prerequisite, A&M and Arkansas wouldn't be in the conference.

If was based on TVs alone, Rutgers would be in the SEC and not the Big ten. Need a southern tie, I agree. But.. Aggies are not south EAST

Oklahoma would not be a great addition to the SEC. They are a school in a small talent base without a large population to support them in -state. They have been spared the fate of Nebraska in the latter stages of the BCS era because they are close enough to leech off north Texas talent. At best they are going into a Tennessee -esque downturn, and at worst they are in permanent decline and locked further out of talent -rich recruiting grounds, hemmoraging coaching staff to other programs.
Did I also mention they bring less to the table TV -wise?

Oklahoma is quite relevant in football. Bob Stoops just chokes on BBC come postseason play. I'd welcome them over either of the MS schools, especially #HailState.
