Frazier went to the high school were Malzahn coached, they still use the same playbook. Frazier came to Auburn because of Malzahn and the style he was accustomed to, plain and simple. Take Malzahn out of the picture and what do you have? The worst QB play in the country, which you already admitted. So you guys basically have a bunch of finesse players who couldn't be bothered to adjust their playing style somewhat, and you went winless in the conference. Such talent! Excuse me if I'm not buying into the whole "these are all Malzahn's players" groupthink. Auburn's players just really aren't THAT good, or else they could have overcome a change in offensive coordinator.
I don't think Gus has proven yet that he can recruit and develop players, most of his recruits have been busts. Especially at QB, all his high school QB recruits have ended up being garbage.

What he did with Cam Newton in under a year was nothing less than amazing, all Cam's raw athleticism aside.
Malzahn really hasn't been in one place long enough to develop talent, or for us to judge his ability to do so. But that's also the beauty of his system, it can be employed-and very effectively I might add-with average athletes.
For example, the 2009 Iron Bowl: we had a pretty talented defense while Auburns offense was mediocre at best. Gus' gameplan gave us all we ever wanted, forcing a late 4th quarter drive to win.
