It is cyclical.
As mentioned in this thread earlier, Saban won't coach forever. For every Saban, there are three Dubose/Price/Shulas.
Had it not been for Mike Hamilton, UT wouldn't be in the tank. Brian Kelly and Gary Patterson both wanted the UT job. Patterson thought he had it. Hammilton hired Kiffin.

Just my prediction I hope Tennessee does revive soon. They were a fun team to watch from the 90's through the mid-00's, and brought a lot of respect back to the conference.
