I've said it before, and I'll say it again.... but why the hell is Mississippi so bad at sports? There are 2 SEC schools in the state, yet they are perennial doormats in just about every sport. Schools currently ranked AHEAD of Ole Miss & Mississippi State (and South Carolina): San Diego State Columbia Cornell Wichita State Yale Denver Marquette Dartmouth Embarrassing.

Fapping over gymnastics, womens' swimming and diving, and man spooning. Embarrassing.

What's embarrassing is apparently the mentioned schools have a better athletic department than yours.

We excel in a shite ton of sports every year. 23 National Championships since the year 2000.

You excel in sports nobody cares about. You're Stanford without the academics.

If we finish in the top 10 (which is almost assured), it would be the 30th straight time finishing in the top 10, the only school in the country that can make such a claim.

Comparing a state chartered public university to a private research university is brilliant.

Gymnastics put UGA over A&M this rankings.

Interestingly, UF and A&M have scored in all sports they participate in except 1 (UF - WBB, A&M - MBB).

UGA only missed MBB as well as Soccer and Volleyball. I'm surprised UGA doesn't have decent teams in soccer and volleyball. Or was this year just an aberration?

And yeah, I'm really embarrassed about having an athletics program that has hired a coach that owns the piece of shite that came to Williams-Brice last year and left with their tails tucked behind their legs.

And you probably don't wanna get into baseball.

For that matter, as bad as we suck in basketball, your team has sucked even worse lately.

Yeah, I'm real embarrassed about our athletic program.

That's why I usually say UF have the better overall athletic dept in the SEC, usually competes in EVERY sport.

UGA soccer has made the NCAA tournament 8 times in the 17 years the program has existed.

Before last year, our soccer program was one of the elites of the conference. Between 2007-2010, we made the SEC semifinals 3 times. Last season, we sucked because of a lot of injuries. This year we are supposed to be pretty competitive.

Volleyball is a different story

It's by far our worst program.

Considering the Director's Cup has only been around since 1993, that is quite the accomplishment.

But still impressive for UF finishing in the Top 10 for all 19 years of the competition. Only Stanford has performed better, winning it the last 18 times.

Well, they do it by doing well in all the olympic sports.

But football has been quite strong lately and baseball is traditionally good. Basketball has faded quite a bit, unfortunately.

It has been around in different variations under different names, it goes back further than 1993.

Stanford is a great all around program, but they also participate in well over a dozen additional sports, so it it is a bit skewed. UF does about as well as it can given so few sports.

Ah didn't know that. Good to know.

Also true. Stanford has the "luxury" of replacing lower performing sports from the index where most schools will have to count all their teams' performances.

and this begs the question, how the heck does Stanford compete in so many sports?
