***Fair warning, this is not a Bama fap thread, this is a legitimate "Has a better secondary existed" thread. Please exit this thread if you have nothing better to do than flame and troll.***

2011 Bama, RS players not counted.

Mark Barron - First round pick
Dre Kirkpatrick - First round pick
Dee Milliner - Projected first round pick
DeQuan Menzie - 5th round pick
Robert Lester - Projected 5th - 7th round pick
Ha'sean Clinton-Dix - A little too early to tell, but looks like a projected first round pick
John Fulton - Likely drafted anywhere from the 4th round to the 7th round
Vinnie Sunseri - Likely a 5th round pick to being Undrafted
Phelon Jones - Undrafted
Will Lowery - Undrafted
Nick Perry - 7th round - Undrafted (more than likely undrafted)
Jarrick Williams - No way to tell right now, looking like he's in the same boat as Perry

Nah. Top 10, definitely. You are talking over 75 years of secondaries. Antonio Langham is still the best corner in Alabama history, imo. Tennessee had a great secondary in 98-99 with Deion Grant and Dwayne Goodrich.

I personally like 08 Florida with Major Wright, Joe Haden, Will Hill, Ahmad Black, and Janoris Jenkins.

Also USC has had some underated years. 05 we had KO Simpson, Fred Bennett, Stoney Woodson, Jonathon Joseph and 06 we had Captain Munnerlyn, Carlos Thomas, Fred Bennett, Emanuel Cook, Darian Stewart but our best year might have been 08 with Antonio Allen, Akeem Auguste, Emmanuel Cook, Chris Culliver, Captain Munnerlyn, Darian Stewart, and Stoney Woodson.
From 2007-2009 we finished 4th, 2nd, & 8th in the country in pass defense. Also finished 2nd in 2011.

2010 LSU probably has it beat.

Patrick Peterson: Bednarik/Thorpe/All-America, #5 overall pick
Morris Claiborne: Thorpe/All-America, #6 overall
Tyrann Mathieu: Bednarik/All-America, projected 3rd-4th round (likely 2nd round talent)
Ron Brooks: #124 overall pick (4th rounder as a career nickel/dime back)
Tharold Simon: projected later round (5-7?) pick
Brandon Taylor: #73 overall pick
Eric Reid: All-America, projected 1st-2nd round

The important point of comparison that puts LSU over the top here imo is the hardware. Where the players from these two secondaries were contemporary with one another, LSU's pulled in the Thorpe and Bednarik two years running and had the higher draft pick status.

2011 Alabama was very good, but I think 2010 LSU has them beat.

Where do these secondaries rank with ten win seasons? That will tell you the winner.

I think the 2010 LSU secondary has been the best so far. I'm more interested in a "best defensive line in SEC History" thread.

No. I'd say the 2011 Linebackers were arguably the best in SEC history. I think LSU had the edge in secondary in 2011

Hard to argue against the game of the century not having the greatest secondaries to ever go up against each other
