The one thing that jumps out at me is the difference between Mauks stats and Franklins. Where it looks like Franklin is trying to do more in the pocket and less running and Mauk looks like he's doing both well.
It seems that Franklin has some stiff competition. It also appears that Mauk may be having the better camp so far.
Looks to me that Mauk is letting GP know he wants the starting QB position.

Glad to see DGB more involved. Seems like he may be more comfortable and that will be huge. Stats wise mauk did better but stats don't tell the whole story. I wanna know how they both (mauk and Franklin) actually looked. Does seem they both separated themselves from berks. A big thing from today is sounds like Boehm had a perfect day at center with zero bad snaps.

2 Interceptions from Scherer. I'd like to see how those happened, was it QB or DB?
Also, where's Hosick? Redshirting?

He picked off Mauk from a batted pass

His numbers jumped out at me too. I hope you're right. Just won't be this year. GP won't do it even if he should. The other thing that jumped out at me is how long before Hosick moves positions? He's too much of an athlete, works way to fricking hard and is too talented to not be on the field somewhere. That somewhere just won't be at QB. I think he's better off changing that position sooner rather than later and start getting some reps.

What position is he supposed to switch to? I watched him with a friend here at the Elite 11 thing here in Vegas, he seems kinda short.

MIZ-DGB
I think he is gonna have a HUGE year
Greg White did pretty well it looks like, hopefully he can get some more reps and make an impact this season too

I think he should move to Safety. He deserves a shot at QB, but if it doesnt work out then he shouldnt just be on the bench.

I have no idea to be honest. I don't know if he's suited to be a TJ type or if he's better suited for the defensive side. From everything I've read, the kid has a motor that never stops, so I'd just hate to see it wasted because he doesn't have the "quarterback" skill sets that maybe some of the others do. Who knows. I could be, and probably am, wrong about it all.

Does anyone know roughly how many of Mauk's carries were designed versus him improvising? I have to imagine most were improvising. The other QB's only had 1 rush attempt each. I don't see them having one and then designing 8 for Mauk.

I highly doubt they were by design. They wouldnt put the QBs at risk of injury this early.

Mauk should be the starter. Manziel showed last year you gotta be able to scramble and buy time. Franklin is just too slow and loves to run 20 yards backwards before giving up the sack/fumble.

He likes to run right...right into the rusher.

I have been trying to put numbers aside in the camp battle and read more on how each player looked and commanded the tempo. Everything I continue to read favors mauk even outside of the numbers. The black and gold game will be huge as I expect Franklin and Mauk to split reps as it appears Berks has fallen out of the race. Texas A&M made a ballsy move to start a RS Freshman. Wonder if Pinkel will do the same if necessary

I hear ya Mizzou and it's so hard to do without actually seeing them in person and having so much of the practices cut off to media. I will say this, if they are near even, go with the future is my thoughts.

Gabe seems to think that Franklin will have to clearly win the job for him to get it back.
