Couldn't Auburn pull those trees up, dig up an 8,000 cu ft area of the earth that had been poisoned, bring in new earth, new trees (already matured), and call it a day?

That is the plan, will cost a fortune because we have to remove the soil beneath the road. Will be 5 or 6 years before we can roll the new trees. The trees will be pulled up in about a month.
Are they planning to make & sell any kind of memento's from the trees when they pull them up?? Use the money to expedite the replacement? Maybe wooden plaques for $299.00, mulch some of it, put a little piece in a Lucite keyring for $7.99 etc...
Seems like a ton of money could be raised in a hurry as much as these trees were revered...

It's funny that you think that
They do it on LSU's campus all the time. They're younger oaks, but they're fairly developed.
Have you ever been to LSU's campus? It's nothing but oaks.

A double wide should be sufficient to pay for what are essentially two blocks of wood.

The sight of those dead trees is a truly sad thing, I don't give a shite if they are your rival. To continue posting and making light of the issue is actually quite piss poor on your part

In Louisiana you have to get permission to remove any oak trees that are older than a certain age.

It's amazing LSU and UGA fans are able to overcome the death of their mascots but Auburn can't get over the death of a few trees among their countless mascots/traditions, etc.

Very good write up on the history of Toomers Trees.

Good for the Aubies. I know a lot of people think "it's just a tree", " throwing toilet paper at trees is stupid", etc but it's a tradition so let them have it. I mean if we go through every tradition at each of our schools, I'm sure there would be some ridicule too. The whole thing of some nut case from a rival school "killing" the tradition because he couldn't handle the fact that his team lost, is much more ridiculous than toilet papering a tree. Traditions are what make college football so much more interesting than the pro game, visiting a rival's campus & seeing some of their traditions has always been one of the things I love about road games. I'll probably watch it for the sake of SEC nostalgia
Probably the best post I've seen on this cess pool that is the SEC Rant. Well written.
