I like how you guys like to throw guys like Jason Croom in our face when he wanted to come to Bama but we didnt want him. Anyway Cooper trumps anyone you say. Chris Black and Robert Foster going to do damage this year as well.

Just think about the year after next, when Chris, Amari, and DeAndrew are upperclassmen and RF has a year under his belt.
But then Morris will be our QB

So, what you're saying is Cornwell would start at Bama as a true freshman?

quote:IF, and I'm stressing if, he ends up signing with Alabama (it's just so early and I haven't followed his recruitment at all), would he and Cooper Bateman be in another AJ McCarron and Phillip Sims position? AJ McCarron leaves after this season, leaving redshirt freshman Cooper Bateman competing with true freshman David Cornwell (I give them the advantage over Alec Morris).
QB David Cornwell earns 5th star-- 247 Sports updating Top 247 today
With both being highly touted recruits and very, very good, just seems like one would transfer a la Phillip Sims.
Just an observation... Same thing obviously goes with Auburn this year if we are able to even sign a quarterback worthy of competing with Jeremy Johnson after his redshirt year, or when Nick Marshall graduates (most think he was brought in to start at quarterback).

Sims had a fam issue so he moved back to Va
& before you say I'm wrong about that, the NCAA granted him a waiver and allowed him to play this past year because of his situation
He lost to AJ but he was planning to stay and his Mom got sick so he transferred
and don't sleep on Alec Morris TTs

quote:I think he transferred for playing time, and just so happened to have a legit reason with whatever happened with his mother. He was just too good to sit on the bench for another couple of years.
NCAA rules usually call for transfers to sit out one season, but they allow for exceptions if a player is going to a new school because of a family emergency or illness. There was some debate over whether Sims’s request would be granted after his high school coach, Rich Morgan, told the Virginian Pilot that Sims would not have transferred had he been the starter at Alabama.

Seems everybody in Oklahoma (people that have ACTUALLY seen the kid play) feels he's very over-rated.
The same Oklahoma people that know Cornwell doesn't have any interest in OU? Sounds legit.

He's definitely not the #1 QB in this class...not even in the state of Oklahoma...that would be Justice Hansen.I think OU knows a little about QB's...i'd trust their judgement on this one too.
I'd trust a perennial Holiday Bowl team too if I was a fan of their team. Let's not forget than your so called "higher rated" QB, whose not even in the top 135 by the way, is an Oklahoma legacy. Yeah, no reason for your "sources" to put him on a pedestal.
Hell, all of the recruiting sites have Cornwell rated above Hansen. I guess they are all wrong.

Scout rankings (especially this early) don't mean a thing...i'm surprised some of you are basing your opinion stricly off of that...when's the last time a #1 QB panned out and won a National Championship?
So taking a bunch of unbiased scouts opinions on a prospect should trump a bunch of OU homers? GTFO kid.

Alec Morris will be the starter after AJ, IMO. Not sure why people are counting him out.

I'm not saying Alec Morris can't be great, I just simply think Bateman/Cornwell would be better in the long run.

Cornwell definitely has the best skillset of all the guys listed above, but Morris is a good player too. He may not be elite, but he has a good bit of talent to run the offense if needed.

You're clueless...
Cornwell desperately wants an OU offer...regardless of the fact that he's not from Oklahoma, every big time QB in OK wants the offer from the Flagship program (especially one that produces great QB's on a consistent basis)
Perennial Holiday Bowl team? huh...?
HS coaches in OK and numerous scouts from the best Passing attack programs in the country (tamu..no offer/OU..no offer, etc../UGA..no offer/ Stanford...no offer/Texas..no offer/ TTEch...no offer) are OU homers? Again..you make no sense, you just sound butthurt that the QB you're hyping up (because BAMA is after him) isn't what you say he is.
I live in OK, i've seen the kid play, i've talked to many un-bias, credible sources....you don't know wtf you're talking about and it kills you..so much that you don't have an argument, you just make stupid comments.

And for butthurt OU fan above, Cornwell is listed as the top player in Oklahoma for all the recruiting sites, not just 247, which is by far the best.
But I'm sure you'll be happy going to the Holiday Bowl with Hansen while Cornwell is winning National Championships with Alabama.
And your statement about when was the last time the top ranked QB won a title was the stupidest argument I've ever heard. College football is not the Elite 11 competition. It takes more than having an elite QB to win a title. You of all people should know that. You won one with fricking Josh Huepel for God's sake. Alabama won one with Greg McElroy. Do you see your stupidity now?

TideSaint,
If Cornwell was the #1 QB in the class, he'd have offers from every PASSING Big 12 program.
I guess Bob Stoops, Kevin Sumlin, Mack Brown, Mark Richt, David Shaw, and Les Miles don't know what their talking about..because none have offered this "#1 QB in the class"
..and he's in most spread Big 12 offenses back yard...doesn't make sense.

I don't have an argument? Recruiting analysts from all four major publications have Cornwell over Hansen, not just me.
It appears that you are the one with a factless, biased opinion boy.
Don't throw out teams that haven't won a national title in over 15 years in your favor either. It makes you look like a sad little kid, which isn't surprising given your post history.
Cornwell >>>>>>>>>>>>> Hansen. Deal with it.

You claim he's the #1 QB in this class....and the "scouting websites" you use as "proof" that Cornwell is #1, never are correct, because the past #1 QB's never win championships...
Thanks for proving my point you retard
Vince Young won Texas the National Championship in 2006 by himself...

Les Miles? You want to use him in your argument regarding passing QBs? Seriously?
Other than Sam Bradford, who has Oklahoma produced that has done anything? Josh Huepel? Jason White?
Texas Tech? How many of their QBs have done shite?
Texas? They won the NC due to Vince Young's running ability, not because he was a great passer.
Richt? The perennial underachiever? Really?
David Shaw? Who had Andrew Luck and couldn't even win a BCS game? Again, seriously?
Kevin Sumlin? He's had Johnny Football who won the Heisman. Big deal. He also had two All-American OTs and a good defense. Let's see how he does this year losing all of that talent.
You sir, are an idiot.

Stoops did such a good job with a projected first round QB, who will be lucky to go before the 4th, and the preseason number 1 team.
