New Big 6

Okay old people, we get it that back in the day, the teams that comprise the old big 6 were great in football.
Time for a change though.
We need to update our Big 6, because currently we have a few teams that haven't even won a single national championship in any of the big 3 sports this millennium. I think it is embarrassing for our conference to have a "Big 6" with teams that can't even add National Championships in the 3 biggest sports in recent years.
So lets see what teams have done since the start of this millennium.
Safe to Stay:
#1 Florida- 4 NC, 2 in football, 2 in basketball
#2 LSU- 4 NC, 2 in football, 2 in baseball
#3 Alabama- 3 NC, all in football
On the edge:
#4 Auburn- 1 NC, in football
Have not won any NC's in big 3 sports
#5 Tennessee- Last NC in 1998, football
#6 UGA- Last NC in 1990, baseball
Have won NC in big 3 sports
South Carolina- 2 NC's, all in baseball
Kentucky- 1 NC, in basketball
If big 6 is football only:
#1 Alabama
#2 Florida
#3 LSU
#4 Auburn
#5 (possibly) Tennessee since it was a BCS

Can't wait for lsu to start the decline this year to shut you guys up. LSU has had solid years but shits the bed just enough to not maximize. We suck lately but at least we capitalized on our chance and got a NC.

Not to hurt your feelings, but there are really only 2 college sports that carry any weight. Football and Basketball. Anyway, the Big 6 is based only on football and comes from historical data, not small windows.
If you look at all time winning programs, there is a clear delineation between the big 6 and the others. Although the addition of aTm makes the line a little less clear.

So even teams that haven't won NC's in football since the 80's should be considered in the Big 6, even though we have had 5 teams in the BCS era win a NC?

How is that funny? Its true. The only time you guys won NCs recently you still shite the bed, it is just that other teams shite the bed a little more or later than y'all did. I am calling for you guys to be average this year and I will thoroughly enjoy watching it.

Not saying that this will happen to LSU necessarily, but fans generally tend to forget how quickly a team can fall from the top. Nobody is immune to undergoing a really bad 5-10 year run. People who scoff at the notion are being ignorant. Look at Tennessee. In the 90s, who would have thought that UT would be coming off 5 miserable years while LSU thrived as a consistent MNC contender?

It is just annoying how small of a time frame most on this board look at things. And if there is anybody that should just keep their mouth shut it is LSU fans. Keep feeling cool about solid regular seasons, but your team has choked on a big dick in the past two bowl games, one being the NC. I would take the last three years of Auburn football over the last three years of LSU football all day, everyday.

we've played in 3 NC games in the last 10 years....we won 2. we also have 5 SEC West titles and 4 SEC championships since 2000.
