Bout to get started doing it soon and was wondering if anyone else here does. City folks need not respond.

I know you're just in it for the peckers.

Not much room to raise bees in a city. Although I have known some queen B's from the city.

When I was a kid, I remember exploring far back into the woods behind our house. Came up on two white boxes way back in the woods. Was weird because there weren't any houses near them.

Anyway, being the young, dumb, and destructive lil fricker that I was back then, I threw rocks at them to piss off the bees, then tipped one over with a stick and tried to make a run for it.

Got stung at least a half dozen times and was in tears running home.

My dad tried it. It's a fricking science. Would buy hives and the bastards would skip town as soon as he would get them transported. Bees there Sunday night. Bees gone by Monday afternoon. Never could figure it out. I came home one weekend and he took me out to where the hives were placed, right under his martin gourds. Nothing......

Are you fricking serious?

If you let honey bees attack you the way you let those chickens attack your shoes, you're gonna die.

Serious.

One more season, or after a couple of bushhoggings, probably getting a couple/few cows too.

Fresh eggs, chicken, honey and steaks.

You better be careful.

Take some classes or something.

Obligatory....

There was a bee keeper on my family's farm while I was growing up.

It seemed pretty low maintenance once he got it going.

I am. Going to some classes now, and my dad used to raise them when I was younger. This ain't my first rodeo.

Lotta honey too. Honey is friggin expensive now. Going rate is about 10 to 12 bucks a quart. I'm gonna start with 2 hives, and if all goes well, split them to 4 next year.
