We are in the SEC, our basketball team would be sucking worse in the big 12. How's that?

Seriously - very rough year for Mizzou. But, the soon-to-be-announced SEC network will be putting a LOT more money in our pocket. So there's that.

Honestly, I couldn't care less about what kind of money we're making. Ultimately the joy of fanhood comes from watching your team compete and win. There's really no sugarcoating it...Mizzou has had a disastrous year.

Agree. Stopped going to watch parties after the UCF game. Haven't even considered a party after the Louisville game. Confirmed by the Ole Miss game.

Not enough booze in the bar for this year. Money's cool, but I don't get to experience facilities much here in Vegas.

If they use it to start paying some top rate talent to come in, I'm not as opposed to that as I used to be.

well, we haven't lost to Kansas in anything this year which is nice. Unfortunately for me living in Georgia I can say we are an absolute joke to all these people and I'm constantly catching hell for it.

Also on the bright side (if u want it to be) We still play Ole Miss, Florida, and @UK so we have opportunities to make up for our sorry play and get a huge win. Hard to feel good about any of those now, but I say if we win tomorrow we will turn things around for basketball at least.

Unfortunately my happy juice is depleted. Losing doesn't kill me. What kills me is underachievers, both coaching and playing.

I happen to think the football team had more talent than a 5-7 team, even with the injuries. Not saying we should have won the east, but finished above .500 and gone to a bowl. Franklin has talent but, injuries or not, didn't show up last year. The coaching staff underachieved by not putting the players in a position to win, the fake punt late in the UGA being the most glaring.

I think the basketball team has too much talent, including Pressey, to lose to teams like LSU and A&M, even on the road. It's not even just the losses, it's how they play. They played like dog crap in all their losses except for maybe the Louisville and UCLA game. But they also played uninspired ball against SIUE, Alcorn State, Nicholl's State, Stanford, SEMO, Tenn State, Bucknell, Alabama SC and UGA. My impression of Haith can be summed up in shot of him "begging" for a tipped ball when Pressey threw it 4 rows deep last night. He wasn't coaching, getting on the refs trying to influence their calls, he was literally begging, please give us the tip.

I wished I shared your optimism, but what I've seen on the court just has played uninspired even in wins. Remaining schedule as I see it:

Ole Miss - Loss - It's at home, so maybe, but they play with more heart than us.

@MSU - Loss - Don't count on it until they show they can win a road game. Give me one good reason this is a win if we can lose to LSU and A&M on the road.

@Arky - Loss - Plain and simple...Not a chance

UF - Loss - They're just flat out good. Well coached, fundamentally sound, solid defense and can score. All things we are not. This loss doesn't bother me though. They're just that good.

@UK - Loss - Not a chance this team goes into Rupp with the lack of heart they play with and wins.

@SC - Loss - Road Game. Should be enough said, but Martin will find a way against us at home.

LSU - Win - Our superior talent will overcome or lack of coaching and heart at home. Little consolation in the win given the record.

Arky - Win - I really don't know that this is a given with this team, but it's at home, so I give it to us. The way this cursed year has gone though, it would almost be fitting that we lose twice to Arky.

@UT - Loss - Road game and they play D. We tend to struggle when teams play D.

That's finishing 2-7 and I don't think I'm being overly critical. I think we have more talent than most of those teams, but based on what has been shown thus far, I don't see anything different. Currently at 5-4 in conference and 16-6 overall. That would make us 7-11 in SEC and 18-13 overall. Pitiful given the talent on the team.

I just found my most positive thing in Mizzou athletics this year over on TB. Some guys are apparently hitting it hard. The 300+ lb. guys:

OL
Boehm
Britt
Carberry???
Chappell
Demien
Freeman
Gatti
Hall (Ole Miss Hall)
Luce???
McGovern
McNulty
Morse
Starke???

DL
Brantley
Foster
Vincent
Winston
Add Augusta, Logan and Thompson(juco I know)

Do you think some guys got tired of being pushed around last year?

The average weight of all of our offensive lineman (-TrueFr) is at 299. For the guys most likely to have a shot at significant playing time (Boehm, Britt, Chappell, Demien, Freeman, Gatti, Hall, McGovern, McNulty, Morse, Boddie, and Copeland...IMO), the average weight is about 312. I'd be willing to bet that these 12 are averaging 320 by fall.
