What do you feel is the reason for the success your program is seeing in recruiting this year?

If you other fans try to derail or do any cheating, NCAA coming posts, I will RA the hell out of you. I want a sensible discussion as it is pretty remarkable what is going on there. You Ole Miss fans resist the urge to take the bait as well.

Ole Miss fans what say you?

Momentum. New coach who loves recruiting. Lots of in-roads with this years recruits. Oxford is cool.

We had a lot of factors working in our favor: Standifer/Treadwell, Denzel/Robert, etc.

When Freeze built off of those relationships and RN and LT started recruiting for us things took off. Robert especially makes his peers want to play with him. I've never seen anything like it.

All Freeze needs is a foot in the door and we have got a shot with any kid. He keeps in contact until the bitter end and I'm pretty sure he's addicted to five hour energy. He's a tireless worker. Sure people will say that's bullshite but next year he'll do it again.

1. Hugh Freeze - was a great recruiter under Orgeron. Great with parents and players alike. System appeals to recruits. Good salesman as well.

2. RN - dude is the pied piper and a rock star. If other recruits see him interested, it piques their interest.

3. Oxford - have you been recently? It's a great place. Parents love it because it's low on crime and a safe and beautiful place.

4. Playing time - our roster has positions of immediate need.

Why is this year different than others?

RN
Treadwell

2 players with OM connections that have recruited their peers.

It's just the perfect storm. In the past, we've been unable to even get the top guys on campus due to preconceived notions and meh coaching staffs. Not the case this year. Once guys and their parents see Oxford and how invested the community is to winning, it becomes a viable option.

Ole Miss just has a lot more to offer right now than the rest of the conference, 'cept maybe Bama

There is alot of tatical stuff that I cannot discuss but Freeze has a plan that is very specific. He was instrumental in Ed's success at Ole Miss. People thought that O was the master recruiter because of his success at USC. Well Freeze actually put the plan to together at Ole Miss with Ed having final say.

I like what another poster said:
quote:

If it happens and we lose Tunsil I am not going to claim that Ole Miss is cheating. I have been around long enough to know that college football and the SEC go through cycles. Bama sucked not long ago, LSU sucked not long ago, we sucked under Ray Goof. Look at Tennessee. They won the BCS 12 years ago and looked unstoppable. Eventually the conference evolves and you are seeing it right now. Sumlin at TA&M and Freeze at Ole Miss. The perfect storm is brewing at Ole Miss. They have the right coach that is not going to leave, a system that kids want to play in, a fan base that is as passionate and enthusiastic as any about winning. The town is second to none in the SEC. The women are hot. It is the cool place to go right now. Freeze is a born leader and will have this team competing soon. It all starts with a spark and that was Denzel Nkemdiche. Give them credit and dont hate. I like Richt but would I rather have someone like Freeze that has united a fan base and makes the game fun again? Yes. Ole Miss is about to change the SEC. Deal with it

Perfect storm is a observation. True the Nkemdiche brothers were helpful but it took a great strategy to pull it off. Bottom line what separates us from the rest with all these 5 star recruits is that our coach is more personal than any other coach out there. He is genuine. He is very believable. He relates. He is relentless.

Nkemdiche

Denzel is a baller and a fan favorite. His brother wants to be with him and wanted to bring people along with him. It all sorta worked out.

Growing up as an Ole Miss fan, I've found any moment of sheer joy or momentum should be approached cautiously. I honestly don't know what to think right now.

Does anyone think the Miami Heat have anything to do with this? By that, I mean the concept of a "Dream Team" has been planted in a generation of young players, coupled with the proliferation of social media/portable communication. Now, players that just a decade ago would've never had contact with one another outside of OVs and All-Star games can communicate with one another daily outside the control of any college coaches. Just a thought...
