Im just talking about the good sense to place it where out of state visitors can be entertained and see the sights and sounds of something great.
So do dads across the south take their sons on coming-of-age pilgrimages to the SEC headquarters? Is this a football tradition I'm not aware of?

Should the SEC office move?
The SEC office is too close to one program for it not to have some bias. Who agrees that they should move it to another city?
My first reaction was this is silly... but then again maybe Oxford would be a good location. They haven't won anything since George Wallace could post a 40 time. Oxford would be an ideal arbiter of disputes when they can be counted on not to have a dog in any fight related to football championships

I wish it would move so the LSU fans would have one less thing to whine about.

The SEC office needs to be in Starkville Mississippi. It will be free from negative influences such as corruption and racism. Unlike some OTHER places.

I don't know why they don't just go ahead and move to Tuscaloosa and post up next to the Bryant Museum. I mean really, wtf are they waiting on?

Wish Bama fans would stop whinin about LSU fans. This thread had very few LSU fans. He'll it was started by an ole piss fan. Better chain down your trailer. A storms a coming

There have been multiple threads about this same topic that were started by LSU fans.

True. But I haven't seen one in a little while but Bama fans always gotta lump us into every complaint tread. I guess I should lump all Bama fans in with Updyke and tea bagging threads. We all know there will be another great Gump story soon. You guys are overdue

Again...this isnt about Bama and if anyone with half a brain would think about it...the reason there ISNT a lot of traveling to SEC HQs is because there is nothing in B'Ham to travel to and yes....folks would make trips to SEC HQs if it were in a tourist destination...I dont care that its closer to UF at all.....but it makes sense. During the winter tourist season we have millions come to Fla to avoid snow and a lot of them would visit SEC historical museum and other sights if there were some built.
The question was asked and I gave solid intel. Its hard to get some folks to listen and learn but I tried. Forget the schools....remember that we want the SEC to be visually appealing.

I vote they should have 3 separate departments. Add a department in Memphis and ATL or NOLA

The head of officals for the SEC has a cozy place in B'ham. No need to uproot and move.
OK then just fire every Bama grad. Especially those involved in schduling

Graduates of a school cannot officiate any game involving that school. Can't say refs are all "Gumps", bc no ref in a game in which Bama is playing is a "gump".

Where were you people bitching about the favorable Bama schedule when SIX conference opponents had a bye week before playing Bama in 2010? It is a rotating schedule. No one bitched about Bama having UT as a permanent rival in the late 90's early 00's. Damn some of you will look for any excuse possible instead of just admitting your team isn't as good as Bama right now.
As for moving the SEC office, find some other centrally located city that is willing to beat the $1 per year rent that Birmingham charges them for the building, and then we'll talk. Only Bham government would be stupid enough to give a tenant that sweet of a deal when said tenant brings virtually no business TO the actual city.

Atlanta. Yes it's fairly close to UGA, but it has high representation from most SEC fan bases, much more so than Birmingham or any other SEC cities.
Ultimately though, it does not matter at all.

So your saying Alabama cuts its scheduling deals by only charging the tenant $1 rent. Now it all makes sense. Thank you for clearing up any confusion.

I think the SEC offices are fine where they are. The conference is very healthy, and Birmingham is actually quite centrally located for all the schools. Birmingham is heavily influenced by U of Alabama, but as others have noted the school is actually in Tuscaloosa, so it isn't a complete "home field advantage."
If they did ever want to move the HQ, Atlanta would make the most sense. It is still fairly centrally located, has a huge population with grads from all of the SEC schools, already hosts the SEC championship game, and will soon be home to the College football hall of fame.
Nashville would probably be my next choice.
