How are we in a numbers crunch when it seems like we had so much attrition the past few years, to the point BB was handing out schollys to multiple walk ons like it wouldn't matter

He can take it back this year if he wishes. Arinze probably knew nothing was guaranteed.

Yes he can but we cant use it and sign someone else. Had he not offered it to him we could have signed 27 this year instead of 26.

Grrrrrr. That's a silly rule and will hurt us in building a walk on program to bridge gaps.

Voelze might have been the biggest of them all.....Loewen did at least contribute some during the season.

Meh, Loewen actually contributed in Tate's absence. We all got excited about Arinze's spring game performance and got essentially nothing for it this season.

So if we hadn't given those 4 schollies plus Appollonio and Hurd we could have signed 32?
Tough spot but it shows Bret's character to reward the guys already in the program over Butch doing everything he can to get new recruits in at UT giving no shits about the players that Stuck with the school through Kiffin and Dooley.
In the long run we'll have better team chemistry but it sure doesn't help out the talent level to pick the 2 star in the hand and not trust that can recruit 4 stars from the bush.

Arinze is the only one who cost a spot with signing an additional recruit this year. The others just count against the 85 limit.

True, and he does it probably in no small part because he was a walk-on himself at Iowa.
