2011 was the most well-rounded team.

09 was the best IMO. 11 and 12 have backed their way into the BCSNCG

12 had the best offense. 11 had the best defense.

Too bad Auburn couldn't back their way into a bowl game this year.

1909 and 1910 were pretty bad, but 1912 sucked.

An argument could be made that every team that doesn't start the season #1 backed their way in because someone had to lose for them to move up. That includes 2010 Auburn, led by the rented mule, $cam Newton. Comments like what you posted just illustrates the insecurity and jealousy other programs have towards Bama at the moment.
As to the OP...it's a hard call between 2009 and 2011. This year's team isn't even in the discussion. 2009 was a more well rounded team on offense because Bama had Julio as a legitimate threat to score any time he touched the ball and he could hold his own against any DB on the field. Maze and Hanks were solid receivers in 2011 but they aren't in JJ's class. Also had Ingram and Richardson which I think is slightly better than Richardson and Lacy. However, some of this is offset by McCarron being a better QB than McElroy. Javier Arenas was returning punts and he was better than anyone on last year's team. Although 2009 had an exceptional defense, it wasn't on the level of 2011 but that defense will be remembered as one of the best in history, if not THE best. 2009 was undefeated and 2011 wasn't but they didn't blow teams out like last year, they just did what they had to do to win. It's really a hard call but I'll give the nod to 2011 by the slimmest of margins.
FWIW the 2010 Bama team had the most talent of any team Saban has had at Bama but for whatever reason, maybe the success of the year before, they didn't get it done on the field. They were badly outplayed by South Carolina, LSU, and Auburn in the second half of the Iron Bowl. As great as $cam was, there is no justification for blowing a 24 point lead.

11. Offense was anemic in 09 for much of the year and 12 had a porous defense (by Saban standards).
