Greg McElroy is finally getting the start for the Jets which brings up an interesting question stolen from the Bunker

When is the last time an Alabama QB has won an NFL game as a starter?

Seems to go back all the way back to 1985 and Richard Todd

Croyle went 0-10, which I would venture is the worst record for a NFL QB who has started at least 10 games.

Jeff Rutledge won a ring with the Giants, but there really hasn't been much success at the position for Bama since Todd.

Alabama hasn't exactly been quarterback U over the past 40 years. The 60s Bama produced Stabler and Namath, obviously, but the 70s was the Wishbone era, so those QBs never had a snowballs chance in the NFL. Then the next 30 years, outside of Curry and Stallings, was filled with incompetent coaching in some degree and the Qbs just weren't developed to be NFL ready.

In '00 Chris Mohr was a perfect 1/1 for 40yds in helping Buffalo beat NO.

Mohr was a 70% passer over a span of 14 NFL seasons.

Greg has a lot of Les Miles in him. Miles picking his ear and eating grass. McElroy picking his nose, then...........

Wake up people... Linemen win Championships.

Any retard can win under center at Alabama. Saban isn't dumb...

Hell, it took Richt over a decade to realize that he needed to recruit the studs on the o-line. We will finally have a great o-line next year, just in time to lose our entire defense to the NFL draft. But, that's UGA for you. We always get the pieces, however, it is during different years. Never able to field an elite, COMPLETE team in the same season.

So long as you're 6'2+ and can throw a football, you can win a natty in Tuscaloosa. When you have 20 minutes to go through your progressions and make a high percentage throw, after your running backs carry the rock for 7+ yards a carry because of the holes created in the run game, you will win at Alabama. Why do you think LSU has been so good? Elite QB's? Pfft... What about UF this year? No one picked them to win 10+ games, but they had elite guys in the trenches. Why do you think Johnny Football won the Heisman?? Do you really believe he is an elite QB?? LMFAO!! frick NO! He has elite linemen that gave him time or opened holes the size of Buicks for him to run through.

LINEMEN. Period.

"At Alabama our players don't win hiesman's, our teams win championships." -Bear Bryant

Alabama doesn't recruit high caliber QB's either. They recruit good game managing "smart" QB's like 20 OZ. just posted when you recruit good lineman you don't need an "RG3" type of QB.

Seems like a lot of the ones that have success usually end up having it at the jets.

Hoping Sat will be the next time. Would like to see him do well and have a legit shot at the job next year.

Alabama QBs in the NFL

The first 3 Super Bowls were won by Bama QBs and then there was a long period where the tide just didn't have elite QB play. I like AJ's chances of becoming an NFL starter one day. Of course, I also think Greg will be effective. He doesn't have the arm that McCarron has, but his football IQ is through the roof and he'll not make any (or, at least not many) of the boneheaded decisions that Sanchez has made this year.
