There were rumors of an Alabama-Wisconsin matchup in the near future, but I haven't heard anything in a while. I wouldn't mind playing at Soldier Field
Seems doubtful unless it is part of one of those kickoff classic games.
If Alabama came to town, Wisconsin would almost certainly make an exception to its usual scheduling (the godawful 11:00 am kickoff) and play at night. They did that a lot last year (5 times).
And if that happens, Alabama had better hope the game is in September, because it gets real cold here at night after that.

Yeah I really enjoy that aspect of it. I also like how accessible Madison is. I live on the isthmus and walk everywhere. The bus system is also very efficient.
There is a great pub culture here. Lots of good, hearty beers. If you get bored of the bars, though, there's not a whole lot else going on here for the late 20s-early 30s set. Fortunately for me, I don't get bored of the bars.

ETA: GT put southern football on the map in 1917. Without that season, Bama likely doesn't get invited to play in the Rose during the 20s.
We did our part in 1922 by beating Penn at their place.

Impossible. Finebaum's only been on the air since the mid 80s.

Why? because your team is rarely relevant in the national picture?
You can dickride Bama if you like.
Oh, and LYSOL had sex with JM's mutha.
Correction. I had sex with JM's mom, too.

The reason they were the first "great" southern team is that they were the first team to take on an Eastern powerhouse (Penn) and win convincingly.
Sure, teams like Vanderbilt had been good for years (but always lost to Michigan or any other Big Ten team). LSU had a great year in 1908 with a (probably bought) player from Pennsylvania. LSU, however, did not play a team from the East, and Penn was widely considered the "national champ."

Very interesting and thanks for bring up the story of GT's Everett Strupper. Interestingly, he was the journalist that later supposedly called Bama the "Red Elephants" post football career.
Everett Strupper was a big arse baller (although small in stature).
Thanks for sharing.
