Don't dismiss Bama's championship mentality.

Especially since of the two teams in the game we are the only one who has won one already.

We were two freaking yards from winning against ATM.

4th and goal on the 2, we line up in shotgon and throw an out-route. and out-route!!

I saw the pick coming a mile away....

Im saying Bama is going to have their way with ND, and UF would be a much tougher game.

Not sure that Florida is "tougher" than ND. Now, Florida's Defense would be trouble, but their offense is mediocre and one dimensional (running), and plays against Alabama's strength (stopping the run).

We've been criticized this year by some talking head fools for winning ugly and winning narrowly. Ironically, I think our close wins (Purdue, UM, BYU, Stanford, Pitt) will prove one of our biggest strengths against 'Bama. They had only two close games they won: LSU and GA.
If both teams have had to win in close games, what does it matter if you had to do it more often? We have had to do it more than once against better teams. But go on...
quote:

In fact, they didn't win them as much as the other team lost. In that regard they were like our Pitt game (and we only had one Pitt game; they had two).

If you want to make the argument that LSU losing the game at the end was more of a result of their mistakes over our guys making plays, well we won't ever agree on that one. As for the UGA game, I'm not sure how you can say they lost it when our guy made a play at the end of the game which directly resulted in them losing. But go on...
quote:

Winning as we have in overtime and with goal line stands has built a confidence and a brotherhood on this ND team that few teams ever develop. I don't think 'Bama has developed this quality this year: winning has been relatively easy for them.
Didn't we just talk about winning narrowly?

This important intangible doesn't get built in the process of demolishing the likes of the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, Florida Atlantic Owls or Western Carolina Catamounts (who were beaten more like catamites 49-0 by the mighty 'Bama).
These games also let our guys who don't play as much get experience in the event of injuries. See: our WR corp this year.
quote:

In short, I think we have more "character" than the Tide does.
Debatable. We have played in a ton of big games not only this year but in previous years so the moment will not be too big for our guys. We do not know how Notre Dame will respond to being on the biggest stage in college football since they haven't been in a big bowl game since 2006 when they were demolished by LSU.
quote:

We will be the best defensive team they've played all year.
LSU
quote:

We also have a much, much better offense now than we did during the first half of the year. Everett has developed and improved more than any of us could have imagined. I think he is a much better QB than their guy and he will prove one of the measures of our strength in this game.

AJ leads the nation in passing efficiency and has shown that he can come up big in big moments. He also rarely make mistakes. Golsen has improved no doubt, but he does not hold a candle to AJ who has been recognized nationally for his achievements.
quote:

I'm usually more cynical than optimistic, but not about this team and not about this game. We're going to be the 2012 CFB National Champions. It's '73 all over again!
That is your right as a fan. I disagree, but I suppose we will see.
quote:

It'll be close, but that's to our advantage.
No mention of any position group or match-up other than saying your QB is better than the 3rd team AP All-American.

Purdue, UM, BYU, Stanford, Pitt.

LSU, Georgia.

Some of these are not like the others. That just cracked me up. A close win v LSU/Georgia is 10,486 times more impressive than the close win vs the high school teams ND managed to beat (plus the ref v Stanford).

That is true, but we wouldn't be up in arms about it. It ND had lost, the spot would have belonged to UF...no question. Just like when everyone lost last year the spot was ours.

I didn't want to play you guys again. It wasn't because I was "scared". It's because I wanted us to have the easiest route to the crystal.

Let's consult the Alabama messiah on that one...

“You play your way into the (SEC) championship game, which means you’re the best team in your division… It doesn’t seem quite right, but it is what it is. I don’t really know what me commenting about it is going to do to change it. But I don’t feel good about it.”

You forgot to include Michigan in the list of demolished teams.

Yes, the same Michigan you guys had a hell of a time with...

A team who loses to ISU doesn't belong in the game but I'm not talking about that. I'm just speaking about the notion that LSU fans were scared of Bama. We know OSU would have been a much easier road to take to get the W. I see why Bama fans rather play ND. It's just that rewind to last year, and a LSU fan would have been called a pussy for feeling the same way.
