There obviously is no proof. But long before instant replay cleaned up, to some degree anyway, the league's refs, there were blantant calls or no calls in bama's favor. Ask any old time SEC fan. It happened game after game after game, primarily to a large degree because back then, there were not enough college refs to go around & the league office used a lot of bama grads. That league rule prohibiting alums from calling their school's games is not that old. The Bear was a god back then. Do you honestly think, with all that is known bout his competitiveness, that he did not use any & all leverage he could to bama's favor? That heritage has carried over due to the longevity of some of the league's employees.

Any "old time" SEC fan is going to hate Alabama because Alabama owned the SEC during those times. Any excuse as to why their team was getting owned by Bryant's Tide makes those losses all the easier to swallow.
