Ashley Zavala (@ZavalaA) tweeted at 1:08pm - 24 Nov 12:

quote:

Decision to not play ultimately came down to Mizzou QB Franklin, who -source says- doesn't want to play w/ seriousness of a head injury.

She wasn't knocking him. Overtly.

Manziel thought about not risking hurting his leg any further, oh wait... he is fricking man and stayed in the game.

He showed extreme enthusiasm on the sideline. He turned into a salesmen for himself, his attitude had a lot to do with getting back in the game.

I can't believe Franklin had the balls to wear a Superman necklace tonight, and not any necklace, a giant obnoxious one. What a clown.

How come this is 2 instances now this year where the reports have made it sound like he was medically cleared to play but chose not to. If that's true, and he was medically cleared to play, no way in hell should he be Mizzou's QB next year.

Not defending Franklin here, but I heard something different from the commentators doing the game. I thought they said the doc's wouldn't let him play as he was still showing signs of the concussion.

Ms. Zavala, or Ash, as I call her in our text messages, said she got texts from "sources close to the program..." who said it was Franklin's decision. And I would think after the early season comments by Pinkel, the staff was anxious to not question Franklin's toughness again publicly. But it is speculative.

Dave Matter reported he wan't cleared by the doctors.

Pinkel said the decision to start Berk was made on Wednesday.

I know I've already made a big deal out of the Superman necklace, but it's just mind boggling to me that you can be medically cleared and choose to not play, and still have the balls to rock the giant Superman bling... all the while watching your backup take a beating.

Who the frick knows who's decision. Actually Pinkel does. If it was Franklin's decision, Pinkel would know it and Franklin should never see the field again unless he's carrying a water bottle out to Mauk during a timeout. If it was the doctor's not clearing Franklin, Pinkel would know that and it shouldn't have any impact on Franklin's chances next year, unless the fact he is injury prone comes into the equation. Question is, do you trust Pinkel to do the right thing with the information he has.

In the end it wouldn't have made a difference. We were sunk before this team stepped onto the field.

Superman necklace or not.

Franklin can take a walk. Nice kid, but football isn't for him. A starting QB should be doing everything he can to help the team. I don't care Franklin didn't play. I'm fine with that. I think it is total BS he didn't think he could do anything to help Berkstresser out during the game. He was never on the headset. He was never talking to Berk (or anyone). He just wanted to be a bystander.

frick him and pull his scholly.

Ditto for me. Pinkel has gotten to the point he so badly wants to prove he can win w/out changing that he doesn't care about what is obvious. He doesn't care about anything but being "right" at this point.
