I'm not saying y'all should be kicked out for not being southern. I'm just trying to have a frank discussion about our towns, and you can't handle it

Missouri fans have disagreed with this statement in this very thread. They are indeed noticeably different

Actually there's more money in the B1G. However, it remains to be seen if that will be true once the SEC start it's own network.

The "cultural fit" argument has been raised since before we were invited to the conference. People much smarter than you ( though I may be damning them with faint praise) decided it didn't matter. You are free to have this discussion with other Mizzou posters dumb enough to engage you or with your bathroom mirror.

Feel free to get in the last word. It appears to be important. You can even claim you won this argument if that gives you tally marks in whatever social club you claim membership.

Answer one question:

Which town is a better fit with the southeastern culture of the US:

A. Fayetteville, AR
B. Columbia, MO

(Please answer A or B)

If you are able, this is all I want an answer to. You have made several shitty attempts to duck and evade the question, but there it lies. If you don't respond I guess we have our answer

Mizzou is big on wrestling. That's another Big 10 fit.

Arkansas is big on baseball and gymnastics. That's SEC through and through.

As for Fayetteville not being "southern", Fayetteville isn't real "redneck" and in some ways feels more like a west coast or Colorado kind of town, environmentally conscious, outdoors lifestyle, etc.

That's what feels less "southern" about it. It definitely isn't "midwestern".

Some here want to turn every argument into a cultual fit thing. What happens if you live in Chicago and have to get a job in Dallas? Do you pass it up because you may not fit in? That would be a stupid line of thinking. You would go and try to adjust and fit in somewhat and maybe the locals would accept you as you are.

This whole thread is junk.

Its not a stretch to think that Mizzou might be a better Big 10 fit than SEC fit. You do have more in common with Illinois than you do say Louisiana or Mississippi.

Its irrelevant, though.

Yeah, but gymnastics is bigger in the SEC than women's softball. At least at most schools.

If that's the case then Kentucky have waay more in common with Ohio, Indiana, Illinois than they do with Mississippi, Georgia, Alabama, SC. Only a damn river separate them from those northern states. Tennessee is the only southern one they border.

Weather is warmer and much less snow in Fayetteville

Fayetteville is more passionate about the Hogs than CoMo is about Missouri

We don't have a love affair with collegiate grabass

People in Columbia will tell you their BBQ sucks arse. Fayetteville has great BBQ

Columbia is flat, Fayetteville is in the Boston Mountains, the steepest part of the Ozarks. I-70 is a flat, plains interstate. May as well be in Iowa. I-540 has a bit more vertical elevation change

Columbia started up their "Roots and Blues" festival after watching the success of BBBQ in Fayetteville

Just a few differences

Slow your roll there. That is a topic I happen to know quite a bit about. BBBQ in Fayetteville was no more important to Roots & Blues than any other music and food festival in towns with similar populations. The concept for Roots & Blues came about independently, and several festivals were viewed as case studies for what and what not to do. Roots & Blues is very closely aligned with Missouri culture and food, and completely unique to Columbia.

And Columbia has lots of great BBQ - just not BBQ restaurants that I really like. There are two I'd recommend; but there are lots of competitive bbq-ers here.

Columbia isn't flat, either. It's pretty hilly, actually, especially in the southern parts of town. Ask the guys from Georgia who came to town - they didn't like all the hills around the stadium.

So you're gonna base whether or not Mizzou is southern n CoMo alone? I guess no Missouri kids from the entire southern half of Missouri, which is just as southern as the norther half of Arkansas, don't attend Mizzou? I guess those southern transplants immediately "midwesternize" or "northernize" the moment they arrive in CoMo?

The whole cultural fit argument doesn't matter anyways. It's just a way the Arkansas trolls keep their boners stiff. Without Mizzou, they'd be limp as Travolta's wrists.

However, if we're gonna play the cultural fit game, I'd rather be in the Big 10 where the smart kids can also play football as good as any team in the country.

Legends and Leaders, baby!

And I was there to see our gymnastics team beat Arkansas in March. We have a decent team that should get better in the SEC.

Pretty sure the KC/STL kids totally drown out the SE/SWMO kids.

Serious question, why are there no good BBQ restaurants? I would think if a competitive BBQer decided to open up a place it would wreck shop
