Triple option and the SEC

Do other teams have as much problems with it as we do? It was embarrassing watching them get 5-7 yards a carry. It also throws the offense off rhythm. Although our offense today was just bland, for whatever reason.
I know UGA struggled in the first half, looks like they adjusted accordingly.

Despite our defense playing very well so far this year, I think Auburn would struggle mightily going up against a good option offense.

Yeah, it sucks to try and defend the triple option. If I pulled for a team that used the triple option it would slowly drive me insane.

Alabama had one of the best defenses in the last 50 years in 2011. Yet we struggled to stop Georgia Southern's triple option attack. People gave us shite for it at the time, but it's difficult to stop an offense you never see with only a week's worth of preparation.

Yeah seems I remember Nick Saban talking about how he refused to agree to schedule Ga Southern while he was at LSU because of the triple option. It's a bitch, no doubt.

I'd be bored senseless if my team ran a triple option.

Triple option, if its run right is a very good offense. Alot of different assignments and reads for the defense to do.
Most SEC schools dont play triple option teams that often and have little experience with it. So its understandable they suck at it. It's hard to learn how to defend it right in a week.

If you run it, you better have a damn good defense. You fall behind by 20 points, you're fricked.

It's only a problem because most teams don't run it anymore so opposing defenses can get befuddled when they face it. But teams like Ga Tech that run it get their arse kicked in bowl games when teams have time to prepare for it.

Lots of teams have problems with it. Fran and Texas State still use it at times and LaTech had trouble defending it every time last week.

The I-formation option attack that Nebraska ran for much of the Tom Osborn era was some of the most exiting offense in my opinion. It had many of the same principles that the spread option does now. Getting your fast skill players on the edge, creating matchup problems.

The best defense for the triple option is to get up by 3 TD's.

Another problem is recruiting for it.
No high rated players want play in an offense that really doesn't prepare them for the NFL.
High rated D-linemen don't want to practice against it due to the cut blocking.
