Obviously LSU's talent and ability make a big difference in the game. Mett played amazing and their coverage seemed good, but it's hard to tell on tv.

But at the same time I think Bama played probably its worse defensive game and AJ seemed to be nervous at times. Yeldon/AJ muffed a handoff which hasn't happened all year and CJ muffed a punt which hasn't happened either.

Last year we shot ourselves in the foot with penalties and not finishing drives on 11/5. I think we did much better in the NC, but at that point we really had nothing to lose.

LSU is a great team, and I think they get us out of our element and we play a little tentative. I think even Saban gets a little extra stressed when heading into this game.

The one sided hate doesn't help us. We see lsu as a huge game. They see Alabama as the huge game

I think we get you out your element because we are the only team in the Country that can line up against you and give you a dose of your own medicine. And, likewise for LSU.

So much of what each team tries to do comes down to owning the LOS and dominating the other team's will.

Unless Alabama is playing LSU there's never much competition in this aspect, thus, I think Alabama's Coaching staff doesn't necessarily take the same risks or call the game with the same level of comfort that they do with other opponents.

I said in the pregame thread on the rant that AJ looked like he was about to throw up on the sideline before the game.

I don't think Alabama plays tight.
I don't think Alabama plays badly.
I don't think Alabama beats themselves.
I don't think Alabama just randomly plays "their worst game of the season" when they play LSU.

Alabama plays close games with LSU because LSU is one of the only teams (if not the only team) on their schedule recently with just as much talent as the Tide.

I keep seeing comments such as, "Alabama played their worst game of the season and LSU played out of their minds and Alabama still won."

Alabama might have gotten their worst results, but they didn't just play like shite. When you play a great team, you're not going to be able to do whatever you want to them. We saw that Saturday night.

Did LSU play well on January 9th? Probably not. Did Alabama have a whole lot to do with that? Absolutely. It was one of the most physically dominating defensive performances I've ever seen.

LSU and Alabama play great, intense games because they have some of the best talent in the country (THE best the last two years).

It's a fun game every year, and I'm looking forward to the trip to Tuscaloosa next season.

Well the whole crying thing showed he had a lot of stored up emotion. I don't think that originated in the game alone.

Well in some areas we played great and you didn't. Our Oline was spectacular and your Dline didn't do much. Not saying it doesn't go both ways.

Exactly. Alabama did play great in certain aspects. The O-line was amazing.

And of course it goes both ways. There's a reason LSU shite stomped everyone last year except for Alabama.

Depending on how our young Oline does, I wouldn't be surprised if you are.

Yea, it's called competition though. LSU is about the only team that matches up from an athletic standpoint. If the tigers had a disciplined offense that minimized mistakes like bama, I think this series would be even more interesting than it already is.

Congrats bama people, good game.

Honestly, I believe LSU's had the more talented team the last two years. Mingo and Montgomery are projected to be top 10 picks by many draft experts. Claiborne and Brockers were top 15 picks last year. The Honey Badger would certainly have been a high first round pick if he had stayed in school. Eric Reid has a shot at being a first round pick if he enters the draft next year. Alabama's more consistent because they're better coached but LSU's talent is truly second to none.

Could be wrong but think it reflects the coaches.

Saban is so strict with his players and over does the sinew because beating LSU is important to him. His players are too tight in this game.

Miles is not nearly a disciplinarian and his teams make more mistakes but play looser. Minnows tend to jump on you but it's generally good for big games.

LSU is the more talented team this year, IMO.

Last year, even though we had Mathieu, Claiborne, Brockers, Brooks, Randle, etc., I think Alabama was just as talented, if not more.

They are certainly better coached, though.

ETA: There's an article somewhere by a few different scouts saying that LSU has the talent advantage this year, while Alabama had it last year. I'll try to find it.

Yes.

I remarked to a friend Saban seemed tight before the game. It has to rub off on the players.

LSU was the favorite this year at the beginning of the season. FWIW.
