With the comming of Sheldons possible departure after the season, who do we have thats comparable to fill those shoes?
I have no idea.....anyone else have any? I know it's going to be difficult set of shoes to fill too.

Right now my hope is we get Josh Agusta but we're going to have to finish strong to have a chance, otherwise we will be stuck with Matt Hoch, Antar Thompson but it will be hard for him to see the playing field next year, and Lucas Vincent will be back won't he?

One does not simply walk into the Mizzou DLine and replace Big Shel. But I think we have pretty good talent and are deep enough to be ok at defense next year if we get some contributions from rshirt and true freshmen. I am much more worried about getting our offense fixed next year.

Did we not have any defensive linemen in the last class or two, any that redshirted?
I agree - while there may be a "replacement" for Sheldon, there really is no replacement for Sheldon. He's a beast. I'm glad we have Kony Ealy back at DE - he's another good one.

Josh Augusta has a similar body type and pass rushing skills 6'4 275 pounds and with a great motor. He is SEC ready and wouldn't require a red-shirt to put on weight. We had Evan Winston who red-shirted this year who was 6'3 246 but other then that we are pretty thin at the DT position, which could be a good selling point for Augusta for immediate playing time. I have a feeling it will be a long time before we see another DT as great as Sheldon Richardson

Matt Hoch has come on the last couple games. Lucas Vincent really needs to improve to avoid getting passed up by Brantley and/or Winston.

That's the one I was thinking of. But yes, we're thin and need to add a few of those big uglies to this class. We've got the OL recruits, just need to add the DL to go with them.

You do not plug in another top 10-15 pick unless you are Lsu or the Gumps. FSU used to do that back in the day. Truth is we are not there yet. Please remember the Sheldon you see now is not what we saw all of last year. We saw some flashes but he did not play at this level all year last year. We will only find out when the next man up gets his shot. Kinda like we found out with Berky(I'm guilty on this one)

I'm a little concerned about the impact not having him will have. His tackles and flying all around the field speak for themselves, but the fact that he attracts so much attention from offenses and frees up others is going to be hard to replace.

My problem is I don't know anything about some of the recruits we have now. Maybe if I could set through some practices, but that won't happen.
I have to kind of lean towards Augusta if he comes here. I have watched game film on A.J. Logan. He looked like a man among boys for sure. He was a big presence in the middle, but in a different way than Sheldon. He basicaly looked more like some of the lineman I watch now with the tackle shedding and some penetration to the backfield.
I'd have to agree, Sheldon is Sheldon an you almost can't replace that.

Vincent and Foster will be very good next year along side Hoch.
No one player will produce like Sheldon but the line as a whole will be more experienced and everyone else's improvement should prevent a significant drop off in performance.
Plus, the insiders have been raving about brantley and winston. those guys could be huge factors next year. Brantly is a lot like sheldon was out of HS w/out the Juco route and 5-star ranking. He returned some kicks and played FB, i think while in HS.

Is there any chance he comes back for his Senior year? Does he really want to head to the NFL after winning just 1 or 2 SEC games?
The money will still be there and I am hearing he would be a top 15 to 20 pick. If he played his senior year he could be a top 5 pick. That's millions more in his pocket!

He is going to be top 15 this year and maybe top 10 after the combine.
Lets just settle in the middle and say he goes #15. With the new salary structure in the NFL, is there really that much to gain if he goes from 15 to top 10? I don't think there is enough to offset the one year of salary he'd be losing.
If he is a first round pick, Pinkel will tell him it is time to go.

I don't think he'll pass up the millions and risk injury next year. Take it while you can get it. Plus I think he's fed up with losing.

He has to go. He is one chop block away from losing millions of dollars. I hope he has a great combine and gets into the top 10. That stuff matters in recruiting

Kony Ealy will be an impact player next year imo. Against UF, he had, what 3 deflections? I know he is a different type of player than Sheldon, but I think he will be our next great D-Lineman.
