Les Miles, Mettenberger, and LSU as a whole deserves all of the credit

Did they have an extra week? Yeah, but Bama had an extra week last year while LSU played Georgia. Fair is fair. They took advantage of every mistake. Mettenberger looked like the QB that LSU fans wanted. I don't think you'll get that from him every week THIS season. I think part of that was feeding off of Death Valley, but he was throwing perfect passes all over the place. He targeted Belue, Nico, Vinnie, and DePriest and had success. Milliner gave up some catches too.

He was sacked, what, 4 times? He's a tough kid. LSU prepared as well as anyone ever has, and that was the most determined football team for 58 minutes that I have ever seen. The only performance I have ever seen that can beat it in terms of determination was AJ McCarron and the Alabama offense with less than two minutes to go. AJ pulled that drive out of his arse. Anything that could go right did go right. Circus catches and a burst of speed by TJ Yeldon saved the day.

I cannot look you in the eye and say that Bama is the number one team in the country. They are 1a. LSU is 1b. If it hadn't been for losing to UF I would be in the rematch bandwagon, but it doesn't look like that can happen now. Next year both of these teams will be just as good, if not better, and we're in for another classic.

It's been a rivalry for years in my eyes, but it hasn't been an intense, heated, I hate everything about you rivalry (in my eyes) until now. As time ticked off of the clock and it seemed as though LSU was going to seemingly ruin our dreams of a national title for the third straight year I hated everything purple and gold. I hated the look of those jerseys and I hated the LSU logo with a hate that I've only ever felt for Auburn. With that I say, frick LSU. Bring it on aTm.

He's also one of the main reasons they lost. Fake FG on 4th and 3 yeah, but 4th and 12? lol.

@TigerJeff

@hg

I didn't expect Mett to come out of his shell. I'm glad he did. Next year will be insane.

What was up with both run defenses though?

Solid post. Feel like Bama escaped with one but all great teams do. When you get a team on the ropes like we had Bama last night, you have to have that killer instinct to put them away. When you don't do that, you're just asking for a loss. I knew 3 points wasn't gonna do it

I think they used all of the practice time for pass d.

Turner and Alexander are getting valuable playing time this year, and they looked good last night. Our run d was a little worrisome too, running off of the right side with Copeland was insane for you guys. Stinson is going to get spanked by Cochran.

We did escape with one. We had no business winning that game, I mean don't get me wrong I think on a neutral field that total yardage for both teams is a bit closer, and probably around 350 each, but LSU played a better game. I don't think I can say they're better, but it's 1a and 1b in my mind. Maybe some how the stars align and everyone other than Bama has two losses and we can lobby for an LSU rematch in Miami.

John Chavis deserves a lot of credit but Les was Ofer on big calls and Mett played like an actual QB right up until the final :45 when he could have won it and then someone reminded him he was Zach Mettenberger.

That was asking a lot. People don't realize how big of a difference it makes when the QB knows that he needs a touchdown. Honestly, if LSU makes the field goal I don't think bama has that last drive for a td just because that puts so much more pressure knowing you need a TD and can't settle for a FG.

:45 sec with no TO and you throw two passes to the middle of the field? WTF?

enough with the back handed compliments
McCarron didn't play well the entire game.

Except when Chavis ran prevent and gave him wide open receivers 1st half and end 2nd half.

We all know he's a good QB, but half of the QB's in the SEC would have scored on that prevent DEfense. Texas A&M , and South Carolina die the same thing to us the past games.

Congrats. for the Bama win but u got away with the only team u played this year. Lsu Def.coach gave away the game away going to the prevent Def. with the time remaining. He will catch holly hell for it this week. That was the difference in the game! We have nothing to be ashamed of as most sport writers said we had no chance. :rimshot: GEAUX TIGERS!!! OH AND frick BAMA!!!

Big differnce in one off week instead of two and four off weeks instead of five.

Twice on the very last series, I think. Never really got hit hard.

Championship teams find ways to win games like that. As much as I hate Bama (as a rival) it is in LSU's best interest in rankings and recruiting for Bama to crush the rest of their schedule like a beer can. Reaulx Tide
