last week I brought back memories of 06 Auburn. A game that Richt will pull out of a hat every so often where we are going against a very highly ranked team, the whole word is seemingly against us, we've been struggling, and BAM we come out guns a blazing and win the thing.

Well, this week is somewhat similar to the 97 Auburn game. We had just beaten Florida for the first time since 1989. We only had 1 loss, were ranked about 9th I believe (which was as high as we'd been in at LEAST 5 years, if not like 10), and were coming back to Athens to face a fairly good Auburn team with the SEC east in sight. We beat AU the year before when they were pretty good and we were BAD, surely this game was in the bag. Lo and behold, they punched us in the mouth, we played kinda flat, and just never recovered. We ended up losing by 11 (I believe) and the east was gone.

This year, more than the east is at stake. We have legit national title hopes which I HOPE will keep us focused. We're coming home off an emotional win over #2 Florida and playing a surprisingly resilient ole miss club that few people gave any thought to in September. Do I think we'll win. Well yeah. But if we don't come out 100% focused like we did against UF, I can see us lolligagging around and loafing our way to a close game before winning by like 7.

If our defense plays with the same fire from the Florida game and Murray doesn't Murray in big games then I can see us winning out and beating Bama/LSU in Atlanta

I would be surprised if there wasn't some letdown. Ole Miss has a pretty potent offense and almost beat Texas A&M. I'd be alot more worried about this game if it wasn't at home but I've got to think that even if we get off to a slightly sluggish start that our crowd will inspire us in the second half. My only fear is if we get behind by a couple of scores early and our crowd gets silenced. Texas put up 66 on them so we should be able to get back to our normal 40 pts a game or so.

I was at that game with and AU grad friend of mine. He was saying that there was no way AU could win that game. It was a quiet ride back to Atlanta.
