bama passed over one mediocre coach to hire another mediocre coach. i really don't see why bama gets raked over the coals for taking shula over croom. either option would have ended with the same result. better to keep jesse jackson off your campus when the guillotine drops.

The most reasonable (and least ) is that both were seen as "meh" hires, but the powers that be thought that Shula's name may get him a little more cred on the recruiting trail.
