Do you think Auburn, Tennessee, Kentucky, or Arkansas give him a call? Do you think he would take any of those three gigs?

I could make a case for UT or AU, not so much Ark or KY.

Could deal with Kirby at AU. Solid hire, probably would not be perceived as a homerun though.

does Kirby have any success as a coach without being under Saban's wing?

Nope. Would you want to start your first HC gig in the SEC?

Kentucky would be lucky to get him I think.

I think Auburn, Tennessee, and Arkansas would go for someone with HC experience.

I don't think he would take the AU job but you never know.

I think he's going to make an excellent HC, like muschamp he is from the defensive branch of the saban tree

He is probably at the top of our Assistant candidate list, but Arkansas doesn't have a history of giving coaches their first HC gig.

Kirby needs to do what Jim McElwain did. Get his first HC job outside the SEC. Do well, and stay there until Saban retires, then go to the top of the list at Alabama or Georgia. Bama won't hire another coach without demonstrated/successful HC experience.

Don't know if AU would go after him, but if they did, I doubt he would do that to Saban out of respect.

I think he is too much of a follower.
He will be with Saban till he leaves for the NFL.

As an Auburn fan/alum/donor/season ticket holder I would not want Kirby Smart at AU for the same reason that I think it was a mistake for Tenn to hire Sunseri.

As long as Saban is in Tuscaloosa, you are going to have to beat Bama to win the SEC. With a coach who cut their teeth and learned their scheme from Nick, Bama will always have the upper hand.

I was thinking about this sitting in Neyland Saturday night. In getting ready for the game, all Bama's OC had to do was go to Kirby or Nick and say "If I put this package out there, how would you counter?" They tell him, and he has a plan for how to counter the defense. He is, in effect, in Sunseri's head because he is working with Sal's teachers.
