ESPN said it would cost around 9 million dollars to buy him out and suggested they have a bake sale to raise funds.

No. He'll get another job eventually and it will cut away from that number.

It is, no doubt, but we have to do what's good for Auburn. And if all else fails, we could pay him in portions and not all at one time. Similar to what we did with Tubs.

Not according to my cousin. He's already made his contribution.

I'm not saying you shouldn't do it. Just saying that it is a lot of money and fans have a tendency to dismiss just how much money that is.
Who do you want?

It's pretty much always paid out over time, and if he gets another job, the salary is subtracted from the total amount.

9 million dollars is nothing given the situation. Y'all might be worse than us last year, and that is scary.

At the least, he would agree to payments over time IMO
That's how buyouts work. Then if he takes another job, whatever they pay him cuts into how much Auburn would be obligated to pay him.

Lowder's wife is ready to write the check.
And one of Bobby Petrino or Jimbo Fisher.

I doubt Fisher would leave.

You'd be surprised... From everything everybody is hearing regarding insiders, it is between Petrino and Fisher. Some are saying Petrino, some Fisher. But that's pretty much the consensus, and it doesn't sound like we will miss on both.
I personally have no clue.

Maybe they can afford it but do they really want to spend that kind of coin when this season could be a fluke. They just switched out a big portion of their assistant coaches so it takes some time to learn a new system.
Anyway, remember it's not just 9 million (which is a lot), they'll also have to fork over an additional salary for the new coach...which will have to be mighty lucrative if they want to attract anyone really good. I'm guessing somewhere in the 3mil per year range for a high-profile coach.
