TENNESSEE SERIES:
Alabama leads the series with Tennessee, 48-38-7, in a series that dates back to the 1901 season. The Crimson Tide has won the last five meetings and seeks its sixth straight series win for the first time since a seven-game winning streak from 1986-92. Alabama posted a resounding 41-17 win over the Tennessee on Oct. 20, 2007, in Tuscaloosa and followed that up with a 29-9 win in 2008 in Knoxville. The most thrilling game in the Saban era came in 2009 as a UT field goal was blocked by the hand of Terrence Cody, denying Tennessee a game winning field goal as time expired, giving Alabama a 12-10 victory. In 2011, the Tide dominated the Vols by posting a 41-10 victory on the road, while last season’s game resulted in a 37-6 victory for Alabama at home. The first meeting took place Nov. 28, 1901, in Birmingham, when the two schools played to a 6-6 deadlock. Alabama posted an 8-1-1 record in the first 10 meetings with Tennessee, including eight shutouts, before the series was halted from 1915-27. The series resumed on Oct. 20, 1928, the first of 66 consecutive meetings on the third Saturday in October, with Tennessee claiming a 15-13 win in Tuscaloosa. Alabama won 11 consecutive games (1971-81) over Tennessee to gain the upper hand in the series. The Tide and Vols have met every year since 1928, with the exception of the 1943 season when neither school fielded a football team due to World War II. Tennessee posted a seven-game winning streak (1995-2001) over Alabama, marking the Vols longest winning streak in series history, also the longest by any opponent against Alabama.
THE GAME: Alabama will play its second straight road game when it heads to Knoxville to take on the Tennessee Volunteers at Neyland Stadium. This will be the 95th meeting between the Crimson Tide and the Volunteers on the gridiron. Alabama currently leads the series 48-38-7 and has won the previous five contests.
YARDS HARD TO COME BY: Since the 2011 Capital One Bowl against Michigan State, the Alabama defense has not surrendered yards easily. Over the course of that 20-game span, the Tide defense has not allowed an opposing team to reach 300 total yards. Teams have been held under 200 total yards 12 times, and less than 100 total yards twice.
SHELLEY ONE OF FOUR PERFECT KICKERS IN 2012: Senior Jeremy Shelley is one of four kickers across the nation to have yet to miss an extra point or a field goal in 2012. Thus far, Shelley has hit all 30 of his extra point attempts and all seven of his field goals.
ALABAMA UNDER SABAN IN OCTOBER: Alabama has been very successful in the second month of the season under head coach Nick Saban. Now in his sixth season at Alabama, the Crimson Tide sports a 18-1 record in October. In 17 games over that span, the Crimson Tide has outscored its opponents 572-241.

1 total yard in 3rd quarter? on your way to getting shut out before UT's 3rd string RB fumble in the 4th quarter? your D-line getting manhandled and giving up 213 yards, 6.3ypc on the ground?

Excuse us if we are interrupting the most manic-depressive fan base in college football ("Fire fricking Miles!" "We are geauxing to run the table!") with our Third Saturday in October talk.

Somebody didn't watch the game, you were dominated outside of the 3rd. Our defense was literally playing 20 yards deep at times to rule out the big play and quick strike score. You pulled within 3 in the 4th and had no legitimate chance to ever take the lead. Good teams make plays when they need to make a play, state did that and you lost. I can just as easily say your game with UF or UGA were close, and they were, but that doesn't mean they didn't control the game. in fact MSU had more control of this game than the other two, I will say your team/coaches made outstanding halftime adjustments but we also came out soft.
ETA: CP is the ONLY thing that kept you within 24 points.
