Would have been better if they had hop blocked him. I know that's a dirty play but it keeps players like Fanning in line.

That was terrible, and it's amazing no one got hurt. I hope Saban sits him for the next 2 games and runs him til he's sick. And that he gets a league suspension.

That was filth.

Imagine if he broke his neck there.. holy smokes. If that happened that would go down as one of the dirtiest plays ever...

Hope he gets suspended.

Semo,I would agree with suspension also, but he should have been ejected by the refs for one, but that didn't happen so Saban should have done it himself. Since Saban didn't pull him out, I think that kind of pissed Pinkel off. It was a very brief handshake at the end of the game. Pinkel kinda left Saban hanging. Maybe had to do with Waters, but I think Pinkel was pissed.

Our lineman handled things well and legal. I think they should have given him a few extra pops and punches but hey they ground him pretty well. He has two lineman go after him for two plays. Another reason Saban should have pulled his player. He could have wound up getting hurt himself.

Maybe Saban left Fanning in to get what he deserved

Jafo, I noticed that too about the handshake.

Saban was ready for a good whisper session.. hey buddy good seeing you, nice team you have.. yatta yatta.

Saban even kind of waved back as Pinkel turned the other way..

At the time I really thought it had more to do with Pinkel wanting to rush back to Waters.. and I still think that had the most to do with it.

But really.. who brushes off Saban. I think Pinkel should have been a little friendlier there.

I think it was mostly because of Waters also. But I think there were left over emotions from the dirty tackle also. But mostly it was Waters.

I'm sure they have probably talked today about what transpired late yesterday at some point. If they're that good of friends, they've talked about it. I know one thing, if Sabans any kind of coach, he'll run Fanning's arse in the ground. It doesn't help that it happened against one of his friends teams either. I don't think this reflects a Saban coached team either. Sabans all about technique and discipline in his players. I'm confident Saban will take care of buisness.

I doubt Saban gives 2 shites about dirty plays like that any more than Tom Osborne did about his player giving the forearm shiver to that Mizzou fan. "Fanning was just executing proper tackling....it's nothing personal." or some other arrogant response.

that tackle pretty much sums our season so far.

Look people. Saban is not a "character" guy. He doesn't care about his players, staff or anyone but himself. He has no integrity He wants his players to do that kind of stuff. He is from the same mold as Bob Stoops. He only cares about winning and he knows intimidation can be a huge part of that.

I guarantee if the SEC did nothing about the incident, Saban wouldn't even acknowledge that there was an incident.

Saban's history is chalked full of hideous stories about his questionable character. It should not surprise anyone at this point.

I'm not saying he's a saint, but letters apologizing show some degree of character.

I'm sure Bama's AD PR group is requiring it or Slive "suggested" it might be a good idea.

No doubt but it doesn't take away from the fact it was done.

It does to me when Saban's track record speaks for itself.
