GTFO seriously No perm opponents means a 8 game SEC schedule....1 vs UGA (for you) 3 pansies

So not playing of other conferences, yeah that would make the SEC look good to the rest of the country and the polls

And with a 2 game out of divisional opponent, it still takes 7 years to go through the cycle

But if both schools wanted it so bad, sure why not???

yeah I am sure they would do that

I agree, a SEC game in the OOC slot will never happen.

Auburn does not want to get rid of the Georgia game plus most fans support a move to the East. Bama does not care who they play as long as they play UT and Auburn every year. The best thing to do is move Auburn and Bama to the East or have the schools schedule themselves as OOC when they do not fall on the schedule. Yeah, LSU is by themselves in the West, but why would the 4 schools care, they are playing eachother every year anyway and that is all that matters.

Why aren't we allowed to care about fairness and who we play? Sorry LSU has no rival.

Most of the SEC OOC games are a joke anyway. I agree though, the OOC thing would never happen. It is a good idea though.

And as has been pointed out, this is only true in football. A&M, Hogs, MSU can step up...plus the other 3 if it works out (well, maybe not Vandy, but you never know).

What do you mean fairness? All that matters is the Georgia game and the Bama game, plus Auburn is in the East, which seems to be widely supported by the fanbase.

I'd put some money on A&M, we'll see. The MS schools have the almost insurmountable task due to LSU on one side, UA on the other, 2 Majors in the middle (plus SMU is usually pretty good). The Hogs, well Petrino had it in right direction...just a wait and see right now.

I mean geez. Tulane was a rival but it was at the point one year the guys lost and shaved their heads due to shame of actually losing. Ole Miss was waaaaay back when. A&M is really just about it now.

A&M will, should become a power. Only SEC school in the fertile grounds of Texas is a very good selling point for them.

Plus Sumlin seems to grasp what needs to be done, just a matter of doing it.

How exactly does this screw the others again?

In the end the problem is not with the permanent rivals, it's with having 14 teams, 2 divisions, 8 conference games, 12 total games, and a conference championship. We are in a grey area with the 14 teams. 12 or 16 would work better than 14. Or 9 conference games or more total games.

If Alabama and UT get a solution that assuages their concerns, they will be the first ones to bury Auburn and tell you to quit whining. They want to play their game. They could give a shite about TDSOR. So, yeah, if that road forward was used, that's exactly what would happen.

Easiest solution is to get Bama and UT on board by preserving their game and knocking them out of the perm opp voting block. 14 members now and if you get the two new members, UT and SPUAT, USC and LSU, you just have to convince two others to go along with the plan (Possibly UF and one of the bottomfeeders). That's how you build a coalition and cram it down on people who think they are on the winning side of the argument.
