That was exactly the kind of hit Nikoe Whitley got in trouble for vs Auburn last year on McCalab or Blake. bullshite call. He hit him with his shoulder pads and head contact was incidental.

You Miss St fans better be careful about supporting this suspension. Left unchallenged, this won't be the last suspension, and the next one might just be on one of your players!
El Oh El. You are year late there. See AU vs MSU 2011

I don't get this at all. He did not lead with his head.

This was probably done more in response to the Tulane player being seriously injured (paralyzed?) than for any flagrant severity of the hit. The SEC is trying to send a message about those types of potentially dangerous hits...as if an injury like that couldn't happen at any time.

You mean Tulane player?? If so, I'm aware of that, as it everyone else, but the big wigs don't want more injuries from hits without making SOME kind of stand against what can be perceived as "flagrant" attempts at going for the "knock-out, Sportscenter high light reel", hit.

The DB was doing his job. Poor move by Slive.

I'm just curious as to how the SEC can suspend a guy for a non-conference game.....
The SEC has rules that only apply during SEC games.
Cowbells
band playing
video board
etc...
Each of these don't apply to non-conference games. How in the hell is Mike Slive suspended a guy for a non-SEC game for something that also happened in a non-SEC game.

Yeah. Doesn't add up. I guess he saw that we were making this out to be our biggest game this year. He felt he needed to put his big boy shoes on and get involved. Bring Ole Miss back down to Earth.
He needs to hurry up and retire.

It's like Slive is just trying to further put himself above the NCAA.

The Vandy Player led with his shoulder and the whiplash knocked the Cock's helmet off.

I think the refs missed a 15 yarder for a helmet to helmet but that is not a suspension worthy hit.

After watching the video in the link, it sure seems like Slive over-reacted.
So therefore, Texas must have paid him off. Those tricky whorns...

At first I thought the sec got this right, but when i slowed it down and watched it, by the rule theyre quoting in the article, thats not a helmet, shoulder or elbow to the head or neck area. Thats just a hard hit in the chest that really sucks to receive.
