One of the reason I hate it is b/c another player can rip the bitch off to make you sit out a play.
There's a stipulation that prevents this. If the helmet comes off as a result of a penalty, the player doesn't have to sit out. The targeting penalty in the SCar-Vandy game is an example.

The only thng I don't like is that the offense can be penalized for blocking someone without a helmet. If you are running with a limited view and a player that just lost his helment comes out from behind another player and you block him, personal foul.

Strap your damn helmet up tight and it rarely comes off.

Mine wasnt that tight. And I always left one strap unsnapped. It came off once when I got blown up on a kickoff

I believe that the once a player loses their helmet they are not allowed to continue a football play. So even if the action continues they are to remove themselves or they get a penalty. So in your situation the player you blocked gets flagged, not you.

Can I ask all you fine folk a question concerning the targeting penalty?
What if, instead of hopping up like the Boss he is, Justice had gotten seriously hurt on that play? He was defenseless and had no knowledge of the coming collision. Those types of situational tackles have often led to very dire harm to players in the past. It looks great in highlight reels, but those don't often show the fifteen minutes of medical attention that the unaware player needs after they are blindsided.
You guys are saying it is the pussification of football, but what if it was your player that gets completely leveled in that instance?

So the defense shouldn't be allowed to attempt to break up a pass with a hard hit?
if he doesn't like it, he should go talk to his qb
if he doesn't like it, he should go talk to his qb

What if he stops but then the blocker comes around someone and did have time to check if he is wearing head gear...

Just stopping is not removing yourself from the play, so I would imagine the helmetless player would still get the penalty. We'll see though.

A hard hit to the midsection would serve the same purpose, so why should you be allowed to headhunt? Or if you can get to the receiver at the same time as the pass to make that hit, why are you not playing the ball instead of trying to kill the other player?

Stopping is good enough; there's no requirement for the player to get away from the other players. The issue for defenders is when they pursue the play or when a blocker disengages and moves towards another player. If either is standing still and an opponent hits them, it's a PF on the player making contact.
You can have offsetting fouls...one on player (helmet comes off) who attempts to participate and the opponent who hits him.

They are talking about how much it sucks right now on PTI. Said basically what you said. It'll cost a game b/c players inentionally ripped helmets off a lot this past weekend. Showed a clip of it happening to Lattimore.

I actually kind of like the helmet rule. It will surely put some emphasis on snapping your damn straps and getting a helmet that fits right. Your coach doesn't give a shite how "cool" you look...he's gonna be pissed if you have to miss a crucial play.

Same here. You didn't even take your helmet off on the sideline...

A lot of the guys I see with helmets popping off have an obscene amount of dreadlocks protruding out the back. Frankly there is no possible way they are getting a good fit with all that mess.
