Last I heard, they "don't have an opening" to play us until 2018.
We have all gotten over it, but it is understandable to have folks ask us about it. We've played them for over 100 years in football.

Don't worry.
I'll be bringing the hate come mid October.
I put up with a lot of shite from Aggie fans in the mid 90s. I used to post on rec.sport.football.college on the primitive Interwebz.
Besides beating us 6 in a row, they constantly berated us for buying out the contract.
This "team portrait" was posted quite a bit back then:

Followed 2 weeks later by scheduling UCLA in 2014. Of course, it's on the Longhorn Network, so it's as if it didn't happen.

I don't think Florida has ever wanted to play FSU. It look legislative threats to make the series happen in the first place
Myth.

We don't have a worthy in-state like the Gators do. We are the Lone Star State. No one inside our borders is brave enough to try to play us, nor should they be.

Imagine what Arkansas would give to say that. They'd probably concede their only national championship to the gumps.

So you're making fun of us for...what exactly?
Because texas won't play us anymore? We knew that when we left the Big 12....what are we supposed to be insulted about, specifically?

Only for one year. It was a hastily slapped-together schedule for 2012. That and $Bill Byrne was in lame-duck session.

Myth.
After legislation failed, the governor brought both sides together and the state control of board eventually ordered the two schools to play.
You can't quibble all you want but it's not a series that the University of Florida willingly entered into.
Prove this wrong:

What did Florida stand to gain at the time?
I'm not saying I blame you. If La. Tech tried to get LSU to play them every year, we'd feel the same way.

Before Spurrier's NC at Florida (their first EVER) in 96, weren't FSU and Miami considered by all to be superior programs to UF?
Was UF in a position to be too high and mighty to not want to play FSU?

Yes. In the 1950s.
I'm guessing you don't know this but in the early 1900s the state of Florida made UF all male and turned what would become FSU into an all female school. FSU didn't become coed until 1947. Therefore FSU didn't have a football team for over 40 years and didn't start play again until 1947. So it's safe to say the Gators were far superior to FSU during the 1950s.
Between 1958 and 1976, FSU recorded only 2 wins over the Gators. 1976 is the year Bowden arrived in Tallahassee.
Here the lesson endeth.
