you lie. you have not tryed it all and just the comment that noone can beat it is proof. i have tasted some damn good bbq in every state in the south and the only thing i thing texas has a lead in is beef brisket and over 50% of that that i've tryed here in houston is garbage. i have yet to run into a first class rib place here and pulled pork is average at best. granted, i haven't TRYED THEM ALL that you say. of course there are tens of thousands just in texas and many more thousands that you say you've eaten at.

you're right, i should lighten up. i should learn that when people, esp. texans (imo) say the best in the world is.....they really mean the best they've tried. for example,
1. the best brisket i've ever had is Rudy's. not even close
2. worst baby back ribs i've ever had (admit that i only ate one and threw the rest away) is Rudy's. how in the hell someone can cook heavenly brisket and then put our garbage for ribs is beyond me.
3. best bbq restraunts in one city: memphis tn.
second best: kansas city
4. best st. louis ribs i've had: corky's, memphis, tn. i know it's a chain but so is rudy's
5. best pulled pork i've had. just about anywhere in memphis, although i've had world class elsewhere in tn., georgia, south and north carolina.
6. best sausage. louisiana.
7. best baby back ribs. i'm over 60 and haven't found a bbq joint yet that has nailed baby backs. they are either raw (rudy's) or so overcooked you can't recognize them for what they are.
8. best beef rib(s). the Oak Room, atlanta georgia. right on the northern perimeter close to the queen and king bldgs. if you live in the atlanta area, you owe it to yourself to go there. best bbq shrimp outside of new orleans too.
anyway, i have traveled the south on expense acct for almost 40 yrs and have eaten in a lot of places. and i do need to lighten up. thank you.
