I meant the U.S. as a whole would have low medal count because of this.

I got that, but most of these athletes are competing for other countries, so your quip actually means you expect them to medal thus lowering the opportunities for US medals in those same events.

I took a few classes and did some group projects with the first dude on the list, George Bovell... kinda cool seeing someone you know (or used to know) competing in the olympics.
