I watched the LSU-A&M Cotten Bowl with some Aggie friends. About 5 Aggie couples and only two LSU couples. When A&M got up on LSU at the beginning they were waving there towels and we were like WTF? This is in the guys back yard watching on a projection screen.

Didn't see those towels after LSU got rolling.

It's hot in BCS. The towels increase air flow. Try it. You'll cool your house down a few degrees. I promise.

The towels are a vestige of the old 12th Man Kickoff Team, the walkons that covered kickoffs at home games back in the Sherrill era. The crowd got revved up a bit when the walkons came out to cover kicks and some of the team members started waiving towels to further rev up the crowd. Someone started selling the towels to fans and it took off from there. They are not as prevalent as they once were, but you saw them out in force for the Nebraska game in 2010 because someone distributed them free to the fans.

I think they were sponsored. Seems like a great way to get some advertisement. I don't know why each game doesn't have their own unique 12th Man Towel with the date and opponent and what not. Seems like a good keep sake, especially for younger kids to put on their wall or something. It would also market the 12th Man better.

Nebraska game towels were sponsored by Pepsi. Various games have had towel sponsors but the Nebraska game had something like 20,000 towels handed out. I can't remember if that's the exact number or not but it was more than any other game. I personally go and buy around 20 towels each game and hand them out at tailgate or on my way into the stadium to random people. The one thing I like about the towels, at least for the alumni side, is that it seems to make all those old ags stand up and possibly start yelling. God it kills me how the majority of the west side is so quiet sometimes! I can't wait for the expansion so hopefully we can get some younger blood and lungs into the stadium.

Yell leaders = 50% gay
Dudes waving pom poms = 75% gay

As of right now we are 25% less gay than pom pom waving schools.

Dudes wearing beads...100% gay. Naw...LSU fans don't have any shite like that.

Find a clip of Notre Dame versus A&M in the cotton bowl with Tim Brown versus the 12th Man kickoff team. Brown always wore a towel in his belt and it came off during the kickoff. One of the ags was coming off the field waving the towel. Tim brown tried to run him down and grab the towel.
