What this has done is make admission to Auburn much more competitive and selective.
Ok... let me clarify a bit. Average ATC score of entering AU freshman was 24.5 when I was a freshman in 2005. It increased to 27.2 in Fall 2011.
A little bit more about AU enrollment as of Fall 2011

You would rank 6th.

Hard for me to imagine that many students at Alabama - when I was there I think enrollment was around 18,000.

Arkansas did not cap enrollment at 25k as previously discussed. If there's a cap it will come at 28-30k. When the current construction projects are complete in Fall 2013, the campus will have capacity for 28k students.

That looks like a lot of soon unemployed and underemployed people.

Mizzou numbers accurate and expecting 34+k this fall. That only counts the enrollment at Columbia. Other branches at UMKC and University of Missori at Rolla (engineering school)
Also it is true that to attend one of the Texas state schools, a Texan must rank in top 10% of their HS graduating class. Lots of smart kids migrate to OK schools.

No it isn't.

we are over 52k now, but i expect that number to go up a lot in light of the changes we've made in the last month.
Larger on campus enrollment than UT also by a few thousand, isn't this right?

They took our berm for a building! Silly campus growing and needing more buildings.

I didn't see any other SEC school that had so many satellite campuses that could change its official enrollment so dramatically. So SC is either 3rd or 6th.
Uhh...the University of Missouri system has roughly 74,000 students in it.
Mizzou: 33,805
UMKC: 15,473
UMSL: 16,809
UMS&T: 7,521
Seeing as 2 of our satellite campuses are bigger than or similar to several SEC schools, I wouldn't say including satellite schools in USCe's enrollment is appropriate.

You'd think with over 50,000 students Aggy would be able to find some guys on campus to field a competitive football team.

Yeah. Our undergrad is larger. 6th largest in the country. I think. 7th largest combined, right behind them.
Both the systems are growing. As much bitterness there currently is over football, Aggies and Longhorns see eye to eye on the PUF(Rick Perry and his 7 points bullshite aside) so what's good for them is good for us. And if the rare earth metals deposits on PUF land are more in line with some of the larger estimates... All the oil money we are getting is going to seem like chump change.

I didn't realize Ole Miss was that small.
Ole Miss is as big as it has ever been, and it's still one of the smallest school in the conference. I think it's great like that.

UT has not changed since I went to school in the mid 90s. About 18k in undergrad and 9k in grad school. I don't think they are going to increase anytime soon due to space, land, etc.
The admission requirements just seem to keep going up. When I went, if you had a 17-18 on your ACT and were from Tennessee, you were pretty much in. Now, I think average ACT is i the 27-29 range. Last year, I think they had 18k applicants for 4500 spots.
Anyone who doesn't get in UT now, goes to UT Chattanooga or MTSU for in state schools.
MTSU is the largest in Tennessee.

Satellite campuses and other 'systems' enrollment should not count in lists of this type.
So much goes into academic standards, total enrollment size and % accepted are not good indicators of academic standards IMO.
A note on my school, Mizzou enrollment is growing and that growth is accelerating, in part because of the SEC move. I was on campus this week for Summer Welcome (my son is an incoming freshman) and everyone is geeked up about it Thre were like 250 kids not including parents, this was the 18th group to go through SW (!) and it is still ongoing

quote:But our "system" is not the same as TAMU. Only College Station and Galveston are Aggies. Also, many of our "system" schools have their own identities and their own athletic departments. Most of the A&M-Corpus Christi students that I see are more likely to be t-shirt 'sip fans, and couldn't give a rats arse about the Aggies. But then they try to "use" our name - frick 'em! And, many of the "system" schools have minimal academic standards that are not anywhere near what TAMU and TAMU-G require.
I think the Texas A&M system is around approximately 123k total. I'm not sure of how many hopeful aggies attend Blinn in Bryan but I'm sure it is quite a few as well.
We should only count our main campuses for population.
