Ah yes, I remember these Alahunter fishing threads quite well!! Been a while but is quite refreshing to play in one of these again.

Don't you recognize the recent trend you stupid gump? You win one, we win one, you win one. So now it's our turn. My prediction right now Auburn runs the table ala 2010, embarasses USCe in SEC champ game and plays a hyped up Pac-12 team (USCw)in the BCS game and takes home the national title. 4 straight years of NC from the state of Alabama. BOOK IT!!!!

If AU can get 9 wins I believe most AU fans will be pleased. I don't expect them to get there. QB and RB play will dictate if they get more than 7 wins. A more traditional offense and returning o-line will help both qb and rb play.Mcaleb must stay healthy and the kids behind have to step up to get to 9 wins. QB play is the biggest concern. Defense will be good enough to win this year. Def 10+ wins in '13.

I disagree with this. The '09 class was all about saving what he could in a couple months...not the guys he targeted all along. The '10 class for the most part would have been red shirted for the 2010 season, leaving them to take their lumps last year. The'11 class would have for the most part been redshirted last year, leaving them to take their lumps this year. By '13, there is no reason for the coaching staff to be held liable for their development or lackthereof.

Contrary to the popular opinion,Cam wasn't the only reason we won it all in '11. It was because of an extremely experienced O-line that allowed Cam and Company to do what they do.

He had more time than Bama did in 07. We had quality depth going into Saban's 4th year. That 07 class was pretty much Shula's class.

Totally agree. That was a very senior heavy team and had as much to do with Au's success in 2010 as any one person. Riding them all season, and not developing depth is part of why Au doesn't have much now. That's on Chizik's head. On the flip side, 3/4 into the season, you don't want to stop what's working when your're still undefeated, so there's that side of the argument.

The fact is (and I admit it and you know this) it has ALWAYS been easier to recruit to Bama. And, no, I'm not making any implication of illegal tactics in the least. Bama is the state school and the more widely recognized name. A good recruiter hailed as a savior(Saban) bringing in a last-minute class at Bama can in no way be compared to a good recruiter being preemptively labeled a failure (Chizik) at Auburn. Not even CLOSE to the same recruiting environment.

I didn't realize we were comparing Saban and Chizik? You all went out and got Phil Jackson.

Are you really trying to compare Shula vs. Tuberville in 2007 to Saban vs. Tuberville in 2009?

I'm pretty sure redshirting is a way to build depth. The lack of recruiting by Tubbs and attrition under him killed our team for a few years.

This year, I agree, is on Chiz Whizz.

This could be a good thread if we keep the tidefans and ITAT shitheads off it...

I don't know what the possibilities are right now. We have pretty good talent, but I think they are still a bit young (I know.. we use that excuse a alot)

Offense: I think we still have a lot more talent on offense. We should be okay there. QB is of course a big question mark.

Defense: I feel we lack there overall. We've had below par coaching over the past few years. Now, how much can the kids learn and take in BVG's system??

It seems like quite a task to bring in a new OC and DC and see a whole new team out there. I'll be the first to admit we looked like a high school team against Bama, LSU, Georgia, and Arkansas. We got rolled, plain and simple. I would be happy with winning all other games, just maybe pulling out a win or two vs those, but playing them all close.

There have been Au fans on this very site that have shown that Au outrecruited Bama for a large portion of the last decade.

Show me who Saban signed after coming to Bama later, than Chizik did to Au, that wasn't already committed to Shula's class.

I asked some straightforward questions. I'm just going where some of the... ITAT folks are leading.

How so? It's well noted that Tubs didn't recruit very well his last couple years at AU. Why should Chizik give guys that aren't SEC quality playing time over guys who are? He maximized the talent he had, which is exactly what I would want him to do. Get that MNC which automaatically grants you a couple down years and develop your own talent.
