If we are the number one seed does that make GT number 32?
If so, does that make any sense at all?

It favors that, but they do it more on location.
If the 32nd best team was in Washington, they'd probably send them to UCLA and not UF.

They don't use true s curves due to not allowing teams to play before Sweet 16 or Supers.

Nothing makes sense in this stupid tournament. How did #12 ranked UK get passed over in hosting a regional by 5 teams ranked lower than them? Backdoor deals.
UK is in the Purdue hosted bracket and we're ranked higher than them.....

I'm not sure about the seeding. For instance, LSU is #7 overall and is paired with Miami (FL). Does that mean Miami is #10 overall?

Beyond the top 8, it really isn't a factor. It isn't like basketball. In fact, I'm not sure how much it really factors in for the top 8.
UK was definately hosed. They deserved a regional.

Pursue has earned their regional by:
Over 40 wins
Winning reg season conf title
Winning conf tourney title
Has POY and COY of conference
And putting a better bid in

No.
Seeds are used to determine SR hosts and potential CWS 1st round matchups.
Once the next 8 regional hosts are determined, it's by geography in most cases with a few exceptions:
1. Can't play a team in your own conference until the CWS.
2. Can't have all host sites in one time zone.
3. 4-seeds are typically automatic bids while the 2-seeds are the "last teams not hosting".
So if the tournament went "straight chalk", you'd have the super regional games look like this:
1-UF/Miami
8-USCe/Virginia
4-Baylor/Rice
5-Oregon/Purdue
2-UCLA/Texas A&M
7-LSU/NC State
3-FSU/Stanford
6-UNC/Arizona

Purdue has been forced to hosts their Regional in Gary because the NCAA ruled their home field inadequate for hosting a regional. They don't have lights at their stadium and it has a capacity of like 1500-2000..... And you guys make fun of UK's stadium.....

A Northern school will always host when it's close because the NCAA is trying to expand the sport. UCONN got one a while back and they were not as highly ranked as Purdue. It's an affirmative action play.

I guess you don't get Purdue has been refurbishing their field also. They had announced in April they were bidding in Gary. Why didn't people bitch when Coastal bid using Myrtle or Texas thought about using Corpus when Disch was being refurbished.
It isn't Purdue that people should have the complaint with, it's Miami.

I think it makes sense to say that GT is occupying the #32 slot, but like others have said, other factors (geography, conference affiliation, etc.) are officially related to seeding after the first 8 spots.

This. The ACC getting 5 bids while the SEC gets 3 is ridiculous.

Yeah the big 10 wants to have their own college world series because the weather is better in the south
they want to push the season back, then you would have players leaving before the season is over to go pro and the cape cod league would not be in play either

Honestly I think it has to do with facilities. Don't know why they couldn't have uk host and move it to a bigger park like purdue

Seriously. Applebee's Park where the Lexington Legends play is literally 5 minutes from UK's campus. But that's kind of beside the fact because we were going to add several thousand temporary seats.

Which would make sense if we hadn't hosted successfully at Cliff Hagan in 2006 at lower capacity.

Really the only thing they did was put in a better bid and happen to be in a conference and a region that is largely unrepresented in the tournament. The NCAA is all about redistribution these days and I can't stand it. It's the Big 10.
