I think many people are confusing the issues.
The issue isn't so much that he was having an affair. While that's certainly part of it, the bigger issue is that he lied to everyone about it and admittedly was trying to hide it (including his bosses).
Covering it up was the bigger mistake than the affair in-and-of itself.
I think he still would have been fine with the lying if it had just been a regular person. They would slap him on the wrist big time for lying but still retain him.
What's going to kill him is the fact that she worked for him and the university. That will be what gets him. He could have survived all of the other stuff if she hadn't worked for the university imo.

Why is this an issue? I don't agree with their behavior, but we are talking about two consenting adults. The only issue meriting discipline is if Petrino hired her because he was getting some.

I agree with this. I'm certain our fanbase would be divided just as Arky's is IF it was Saban.
Are you nuts? We didn't fire Dubose for his affair until he started losing. The only division our fan base would have is whether to give Saban another motorcycle. Dude can do what he wants except maybe murder somebody. Petrino should have the same discretion.

Arkansas needs you to know that "integrity" needs to be put in quotes when referring to itself. Loooooolz.
God you are dumb. Read back and you'll quickly see that the quotes were up in response to a statement made by someone else just before that post.
However, I can see why you find the need to bash Arkansas. It's not like you can beat us in anything anyways.

Arky is an upper tier SEC job that deserves more than to get drug thru the mud by the likes of Petrino who has proven multiple times he has low moral character. I really believe the character thing was a big factor in DGB, not to stick a stick in that one.
Point is, there are coaches as good with better character. Your AD once he cools off, will do the right thing for the program. I suspect it will be agreeing to part ways. You have time to find a replacement and will be better off for it.

Look,
Petrino is an arse and has always been an arse. This is pretty much undisputed by everyone.
So he's banging some hottie. Who gives a shite? That's between him and his wife. We don't know the details. Maybe he wanted to divorce his wife, and in turn she gave him free reign to sleep around. Whatever, none of our business.
The gray area here is that "he is the one who promoted her to her current position". If this is true, and he was banging her, then that is a big deal.
You can tell by the way he spelled manuver(sic) and tryed (sic) on his police report that he isn't the brightest crayon in the box. If that doesn't tip him off, then he promoted his sidepiece to a position making her his subordinate. Not a smart move, Petrino.
Should he be fired over this? Hell no! Ignorance is no excuse of the law except in big time college athletics. Those Ohio State players didn't know they couldn't sell their rings. That's no reason to take away their careers. Give them a lil slappy and tell them to behave from here on.
That's what needs to happen to Petrino. He needs a verbal reprimand, and then he must promise to be good from now on.
That's all.

So you are saying wins > what is right and integrity of the university?
Yes. Wins = money. Money rules the world.
It sounds good when people talk about integrity, etc. Integrity almost never enters the equation in the real world. If Arkansas could sweep this under the rug, then it would. Now that it is public they have to deal with it. So basically they'll have to decide if they'll lose more money by firing him or dealing with the PR storm and any possible legal action. Pay the girl off and fine Petrino whatever that cost was.

I hope to god you aren't serious. I don't post much on the SEC rant but read a lot. You are definitely one of the better hog posters. But I just can't see how anyone that is serious can actually support actions like Petrino's. Especially since he has a proven track record of being a scumbag.
The entire NCAA is a corrupt system who exploits kids for billions of dollars and beats the drum of the integrity of amateur athletics being the most important issue in the world. Every action they make shows that money is more important than the kids, yet they keep screaming it. It's a joke and the Universities make huge money from it. Some of these programs make near 100 million from football related revenue. 4 schools in the SEC made over 40 million in profit and 8 schools made over 25 in profit. This is a business and they'll do a financial analysis of the best move.

Problem is, he is a State of Arkansas employee and she is a subordinate on his staff. I don't see how he can possibly survive this frick up.

I shouldn't be amazed by it because of the world we live in today but I can't help myself but feeling sorry for those that will justify behavior like Petrino's just for the sake of the almighty dollar. You will try to hang on to a proven scumbag like Petrino because you feel some superiority to consistent third place finishes. You will also jeopardize the integrity of the university over a football coach.
I don't think anyone will justify his actions but it is just reality. College football is a business. All of these teams are paying players while the NCAA looks away. Every business in the world does a financial analysis when a big time revenue generator does something this dumb. Integrity only matters in business when the lack of it will lead to financial loss. It really doesn't justify anything but it is reality. If Petrino is fired, then someone is calling his agent really quickly.

If you are inferring that your competition is pulling for this, I would say only the short sighted onces with no perspective and Jerry Springer mentality. The adults who understand what it takes to run a world class organization, have already concluded Petrino is out of his depth from a character perspective.
The longer you keep him the easier it will be to recruit against you. So is you keep him, it will be a net drag on your program. You ought to bite the bullet and upgrade. Really, if the guy cannot spell 'tried' you have a real intellectual powerhouse on your hands.

For the fans claiming this is "no big deal" you need to get a clue. She's his subordinate. She already has grounds to sue him & the university for sexual harassment. Her job is likely never going to work out now, her engagement is likely off. The best thing she has going for her is the possibility of suit.
The lawsuit would probably be settled out of court and cost far less than paying the buyout for a high profile coach. It will certainly cost less than if they slip back to mediocrity. Lawsuits get handled quietly every day. The media could throw a wrench in that, however I'd settle out of court and throw some clauses in there about talking to the media, etc.

Doubt in this situation the buy out would be shite if anything.
