Arkansas should let Petrino go and move on

Can't believe I'm typing this.
Last year, our offensive line took a hit when Anthony Oden got another DUI. Then Rasner got poppoed with some criminal offense, then Peacock, then Whitehurst, and now this "scandal" from Petrino. Just way too much "shite" going on for what should be a top notch program.
He's a hell of coach, and I honestly believe he's 2nd behind Saban in terms of ability. But he fricked up majorly and we need to right the ship. Bring in Paul Petrino, Gus, or Garrick McGee. Petrino has laid an awesome foundation and any of those guys can continue upon his success.
He set the program's standards to a higher level than ever before, and because of that we can't put up with this kind of nonsense.

If you guys fire him over this, I hope your program never recovers.

I mean we would definitely be "okay" if he is retained. Like I said, he's a great coach and will always have us competing for the West and SEC. But he/we already have to deal with the negative recruiting in regards to his "job hopper" reputation, and now there is going to be this to deal with. Not to mention the strain this puts on his relationship with the AD, and the overall distraction this will bring to the team.
Bobby is awesome, but at what point are all the distractions and baggage worth it? There are some capable coaches out there with cleaner slates willing to coach Arkansas, and at this point I say lets give one a shot. Let's give the job to someone who respects the job enough not to put it in jeopardy for some 25 year old girl.

If we were to make the right hire, the standards would not fall.

I must say that I am astonished that so many hogs seem to be calling for Petrino to be let go. I don't know if you all are just resigning yourselves to the worst possible scenario so when it does not happen you will be pleasantly surprised or what?
Or maybe you really do believe in putting the program and its honorability above the coach and this recent act is just one too many examples of Petrino's poor character?
This is an about face of sorts. Its not like Petrino just became a douchebag a couple days ago. I remember when he was acting like a jackass on national tv, yelling frick you across the field and most of you guys thought that was awesome. Or the post-it note departure that y'all tirelessly defended as being a necessary and justified act. Not to mention the scheming he did to throw his former mentor under the bus and take his place at Auburn where he was portrayed as being merely an ambitious person.
So he cheated on his wife with another university employee and then lied about it. Is it just too much now?

like a stone. . .regardless of the hire.
Recruits would see your school as unstable

Idiotic statement up above... Jon Ham that is the classiest thing an Arky ranter has ever posted. Schools are bigger than coaches, integrity does mean something, and your program will be just fine if Bobby is shown the door.

How do you think they're seeing it now?

The fact that she was hired four days ago and all the other douchebag things he's done?
Yes, it's enough.
He needs to channel his inner Bill Clinton if he wants to be retained.

pretty much i guess - in his defense I think most good coaches are douchebags so I can't really rag on Arky for being fond of theirs

They should force him to take sexual addiction counseling and say he has a problem that is beyond his control and he's working hard to correct his family life.
I certainly wouldn't fire the guy because he's a good coach.
You just have your PR people cook up some good sob story and show that he's trying to walk a path to redemption. If he does it again, then at least you've already identified it is a pre-existing condition.
You only fire coaches that aren't winning. Mike Price would have kept his job if he had one a natty before hitting the strip club.
