Starting linebacker Alec Ogletree and starting safety Bacarri Rambo will miss at least two games, but up to as many as four games, at the start of the season for a violation of team rules.
This is the second suspension of Rambo’s career and appears to be Ogletree’s first. Rambo sat out the Bulldogs’ season opener last year with Boise State for breaking team rules (undisclosed). Ogletree was injured in the game against the Broncos, breaking his foot, and didn’t return until the Bulldogs’ game with Florida in late October.

quote:

The duo’s trouble comes on the heels of two other off-season problems for the Bulldogs’ defense. Starting cornerback Sanders Commings was suspended by coach Mark Richt earlier this year after being arrested in January on a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence/simple battery. Branden Smith, who appeared in line to start opposite Commings at corner, arrested in March and charge with possession of marijuana.

It's not like we're going to do jack shite anymore anyway. We're missing 3/4 of our secondary the first 2 games, maybe more. Just beyond sick of this shite

Until pot is decriminalized, which won't be any time soon, we're going to have suspensions like this every year and it will continue to affect the team. It's just the way it is and it's pathetic that the supposed "leaders" of the team would continue to do shite like this.

agreed. My issue is not that they do it but that they get caught and continue to do it. They've seen what happens when it happens to teammates and continue to do it.

Could be like 2003 when we were kicking arse despite missing a shite-ton of players, or it could be a disastrous meltdown like '08. With all the players we're losing at this rate, the Mizzou game is starting to look like a toss-up.

Like, are we that fricking snake bit? Is Richt just way too serious about this shite? Do other teams just sweep it under the rug? Or is there just a widespread case of retardation in our secondary?

Rambo is more or less useless to us now, so just get rid of him. Pretty sure he gets a MINIMUM 4 games, being that he is a repeat offender.

Jesus, god bless Grantham and Richt. If I got these results back today, I wouldn't give those guys any warning. I'd just deck the shite out of both of them. Obviously they don't give a shite about missing games, or else they never would've rolled the fricking joint in the first place.

In a word, I'm disgusted

It is time to start showing guys the door..These actions are doing harm beyond winning and losing games..CMR has to show these young adults who is the boss..The punishments handed out are not stopping the actions.Throw a first team AA Rambo, and a potiental 1st team all sec Tree off the team and that will send a message.I know it is easy for me to say this knowing my job does not depend on 18-21 year olds winning games for me,but I have lost my compassion for these young adults.

They would have played. You're kidding yourself if you think differently. Richt is a piece of shite, and I don't care what anyone says. He learned from one of the biggest POS's in the game as well.

I think it should be legalized, because I don't see it as any more dangerous or destructive than alcohol. I'm glad it's just a $25 fine and no court appearance for personal amounts in Columbia, MO. They'll crack down on dealers, but possession of a personal amount is not that big a deal here. (Columbia only, not the entire state - local ordinance!)

ETA: I'm not defending these two's actions. It shouldn't matter if it's legal or not - if it's a team rule and they violate it, the consequences have to be severe enough to change the behavior. I just think in general, we pay way too much attention to pot use among college students.

Convince me that this is true. Use evidence, too.
