Been hearing some not so good news on Crowell. Care to elaborate? Found this on another board.
pretty much rumors are all there is to talk about right now, so..... anybody heard anything about all this? i heard a piece of it on 680 in atl, but i was working and missed most of it. i found this on an osu board, because there is a rumor that he might be wanting to transfer.
Just got back from dinner with some friends. Here's what I heard.
Crowell got tagged by a scout teamer and got in his face about hitting too hard in practice. The guy mouthed back that he better look for worse on Saturday. This was said to have happened on Tuesday, and the rest of practice was routine. Wednesday Crowell supposedly put on a green non-contact jersey and said his ankle was stiff. One of the assistant coaches took him to a trainer. The trainer gave him a routine of exercise bike, skipping rope, and practicing cut moves on his own. He walked away and stood around.
The starting FB and Jarvis Jones took him to the side and lectured him on the need to work for the team. This has happened 3 or 4 times already this season. The OC and Richt have done the same. Crowell came in last June out of shape and has been unenthusiastic about weight and conditioning training. That's why he plays sporadically in every game. When he puts in the effort he is unstoppable, but he taps out after every 2 or 3 carries. He has been suspended once for failing a drug test, and 2 times for attitude. (those were the "injury" ganes). He is not in good condition and would be a monster if he was, but it seems he doesn't like to get hit hard. Tough luck for an SEC RB.
The other players don't like him because he is concerned only about himself. Word is he is on the weed quite often, and has often reeked with the smell in classes. It is said that he misses about half his classes and expects the tutors to do the work for him.
Likely he will have failing grades in 2 weeks, and probably won't do any better next spring. That's why Richt made that speech to the media last week aimed at Nick Marshall. He and the AD are thinking Crowell will flunk out and be gone before the spring game. But I also think Richt will "suggest" he go elsewhere to play.
I understand several players have been giving him lectures this week and all season to try to change his attitude.
I think if the RB situation wasn't so thin this year he might be sitting the bench but unfortunately that isn't the case. But expect him gone next year.

quite interesting. I'd bet he just doesn't want to compete to play.
It's starting to look like these drawn out drama filled and look at me signing day and recruiting sagas are a decent indicator of character and commitment once on campus.
I look forward to his espnU documentary in a few years.

yeah. Your source isn't wrong. We've all been hearing the same stuff since around November/December.
I'm pretty much ok with whatever happens. To be honest now that we have Marshall I'd be ok with letting Crowell go. He seems like a bad character guy. I can't stand guys like him that waste their talent.

Wow, way to stay on top of things. This practice incident occured in October. This here innerweb sure makes imfermayshun get around quicker in Alabammer.

This is the reason I would be a terrible coach/recruiter. I couldn't suck up to these fools and I would tell them to pound sand for looking at me wrong. I'd be down to 32 scholarships after spring practice.

Yeah no, a lot of that is BS. He has never said anything about transferring. He played most of the 2nd half of the season with a bad ankle.

Just another high visibility, low production RB at Georgia. Jasper Sanks, Washan Ealey, there is a list of these guys. Marshall will be the real deal and Crowell will either have to grow up and compete or sit on the pine or go elsewhere. This kind of nonsense tends to take care of itself. its a shame really. I predict this guy will be a sanitation engineer back in Columbus in 4 years.

They really need to expand high school tennis programs so that these prima donnas, who can't get it through their thick, stupid skulls that football is a TEAM sport, will have a sport that will fit their big, selfish, egos.

I'm not one to say "germans" on internet message boards, but dear Lord man this info is from like OCTOBER for frick's sake.
Crowell will be here in September and will almost assuredly be our starter in game 1. Move on.
