I'm slightly worried about the LSU secondary.

No more Mo Claiborne, Brandon Taylor, or Ron Brooks.

Cooper is a monster of DB coach and I'm sure that will still be a strong point on the team, but I think there will have to be major improvement at LB for LSU to be as good this year as they were last year.

Simon will have to step up and be a #1 corner, and someone else will have to step up at corner to allow TM7 to be in that nickel back spot that he excels in so well.

Our D line is good enough to keep us in the top half, we need some LB's and DB's to step it up though. Hoping the new coaches get it done

Reasoning for putting us 5th, we upgraded our defensive staff tremendously, and I love what I saw in the bowl game.

I put USC 6th, because I'm very weary of Lorenzo Ward. Ellis Johnson was a great DC.

So we go from top 25 scoring D and the only defense to hang in with Bama/LSU to 10? Lol

state's d will be stout next year. We're losing one safety but all of our starting secondary will be very experienced. We are losing a D-linemen to the NFL and bringing in a five star and juco all american on the d line. Linebackers losing a mostly backup who sucked. How are we at the bottom? They should be better than the previous two years of top 25 scoring defense. What gives?

Letter grade system and in descending order within grade (2011 scoring defense rank in () ):

A - LSU (2), Alabama (1)
B - Georgia (17), SC (12)
C - Fla (25), State (19), Vandy (26), Tenn (37), Ark (39), Aub (84)
D - Missouri (47), Kentucky (57), A&M (80), Ole Miss (99)
F - None (every SEC team plays some defense)

I agree with most of your list. LSU and 'Bama will simply reload and UGA will be improved. Those worried about LSU's two early departures on defense, needn't be. Simon, Jenkins, and Vinson will step in for Claiborne and do an adequate job. Mathieu will still see a lot of nickel time. On the Dline, Freak Johnson will explode on the scene with Brockers' departure, with ample help from Ego Ferguson, Josh Downs, Quinton Thomas and the stalwart Bennie Logan. The starting ends may both be All-Americans and the linebackers could be the best group in years.
